What is the Still Life by ZERO9?

'Still Life' is a 2000 sq ft luxury residential design-build apartment in Powai, Mumbai, designed entirely around panoramic views of Powai Lake.

Created by Prashant and Anu Chauhan of Mumbai-based architecture studio ZERO9, this interior architecture project answers a complex design challenge: how to design a modern, view-facing luxury home that feels grounded and serene. The design utilizes a sophisticated palette of pastel blue, sage green, and warm beige, featuring standout elements like a geometric TV wall, a white marble Mandir with brass Om inlay, and a custom perforated metal screen headboard.

Calm by the lake.

The clients didn't talk about walls or layouts when they first showed us the home. They stood at the living room edge, pointed to Powai Lake, and said — this is what we want to wake up to.
That was our brief. Everything else followed.
Prashant & Anu at the site of our latest Design + Build — a 2000 sq ft luxury lake-view home in Powai, Mumbai. Every room, every material, every sightline was designed around one idea: stillness.

A room that does everything.

It gathers the family for dinner. It holds a thousand books. It lets you sink into a blush armchair and go nowhere for hours.

Floor-to-ceiling walnut shelves. An Indian stone mosaic underfoot. Brass pendants catching the afternoon light. And in the background — a mustard yellow bar counter that quietly steals the show.

Gentle interruptions of colour and craft throughout, and balconies that usher in daylight, prove that minimalism is less about subtraction and more about clarity. In Mumbai, where high-rises and skyline compete for attention, coming home to this 4,800 sq ft all-white residence by ZERO9 .in feels almost radical. ⁠
⁠
Two expansive living rooms are stitched together with a fluid wall between the formal and family living spaces. This wall doubles as a projection screen, turning movie nights into a weekly ritual. “Largely the theme was quiet luxury with maximising the beautiful green views, almost a contrast to the perception of Mumbai”, mention Anu Chauhan and Prashant Chauhan from ZERO9. Deeper within, a serene, all-white mandir nods to the opulence often associated with Krishna. The library, swathed in wall-to-wall bamboo silk carpeting, feels almost monastic. Guest bedrooms echo the home’s luxury, while the powder room surprises with a botanical wall. In the master suite, a private lounge with a motorised recliner and a walk-in closet speaks to comfort without flamboyance. ⁠

The brief could have easily slipped into sterile territory, the kind of beige-on-beige minimalism that feels more showroom than sanctuary. But this home resists that fate. ⁠
