Artificial intelligence isn’t just for big tech anymore. For small businesses, AI is becoming a real driver of growth, efficiency, and insight.
A recent survey of 760+ U.S. small business owners by Bluevine reveals that:
61.3% have a favorable view of AI.
Optimistic owners are 1.6x more likely to embrace AI than pessimistic ones (70.6% vs. 43%).
Top concerns remain economic: inflation (71.4%) and operational costs (62.4%), far outweighing AI-related risks (24.4%).
AI is primarily being used for marketing (39.4%) and data analysis (32.6%).
59.9% of businesses say they’re not planning AI-driven layoffs.
Biggest adoption barriers? Data security (23.3%) and accuracy concerns (16.6%).
What’s interesting is where AI is gaining traction:
👉 Construction & trades: 66% adopting or planning
👉 Health & wellness: 86.5%
👉 Food & beverage: 80%
👉 Retail: 70.1%
And looking ahead, 84.8% of owners expect AI to transform their financial operations in the next 2–3 years.
