Have always been such an evangelist of Brocades.
The rich texture created by weaves always add character and grandeur.
The suit that am wearing here was converted from a Brocade saree which I picked up from Kanyakumari on my last trip with my Papa before he became a shining star in the sky.
Wearing this makes me go back to the times with my father who was my first Guru into textiles and embroidery.
He was the most balanced version of both the masculine and feminine in a guy.
The man who would cook, clean, garden, stitch, do hair for school , do makeup for me for dance , paint, sculpt… the list goes on.

Having grown up to such men in the family including my big brother, I have always had clear perceptions and expectations from men .
I have also had the privilege of meeting some fantastic guys in life who knew their female essence.
I am also raising a lil warrior at home to understand women in all their essence , to embrace their feminine energy, to empathise with their struggles due to biological reasons.
The world would be a much better place if mothers would take care to bring up their sons in the most appropriate manner to respect, include, engage and empathise with the women in true partnership.
The true essence of a man should be that of the Arthanareeshwara; half woman, half man , I feel as every man carries a woman inside and vice versa!
Whatz your take ?

(Half woman half man, arthanareeshwara, respect for women, the true man, brocade suits, saree into suits)

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there”
Rumi

Only if we could all practice the above.
This is completely non judgmental.
If we could embrace our differences and respect each other for whoever we are , how much ever weird we find each other., not put down each other for our ways, our clothes, our opinions and just about anything that we find different in each other.
Only if we can stop being selective sinners!
Embrace ,Respect, Include!

Btw , am wearing mother of pearl carved jewellery paired with Swarovski crystals.

(Living life to the fullest, embrace life, non judgmental, love without judgement, white dress, mother of pearl necklace, Swarovski crystal)

Exploring the north east was always on the list .
Started with Assam and Meghalaya.
The vibe is totally different.
Going into the villages of Kaziranga was mind blowing.
The forests, the tea estates, the tuk tuks or whatever u call it , the momos, the shrunken goats, the farm lands, the open spaces, the wilderness, the wind… all hit me on a different level.
Nagaland is next on my mind!

Wearing a tiered top , with linen shorts , n sneakers and the warm sun on my skin making it golden brown 😊

It’s truely liberating to travel and see our own country.
Many places on my bucket list ; Assam got struck.
Nagaland is next.
On the ferry trip to Majuli from Jorhat in Assam.
Wearing a double breasted waistcoat with a linen trousers.

For your information, the longest river island in India, and the world, is Majuli (or Mājuli), located in the Brahmaputra River in Assam, known for its unique Neo-Vaishnavite culture, mask-making, and biodiversity, though it faces significant erosion challenges. It was India’s first island to become a district, accessible by ferry from Jorhat.

Chikankari is a craft I have eternally loved. And chikankari on a cotton Doria saree is heaven.
I dunno why but I love the chikankari craft more on cotton than on a georgette or any other textile.
Somehow, having this craft on a natural fabric makes it all the more alluring .
The all white look always takes me back to the iconic “Chandini” Sridevi look.
Teaming the white saree with an all pearl n oxidized accessories all of which goes so well with it .
White is so magnanimous that it will take anything to heart .
White remains my all time favourite colour too.
Whatz yours?

Mixing old n new elements gives a fresh lease of life to a look I believe.
Here I have used a shrug made out of an old handloom saree having just made two holes for the arms to pass and allowing the rest of the rectangular fabric to hang.
Upcycled the old saree into this shrug and a tailormade lungi!
Mixing the tri coloured shoes, and a sequin studded brooch of a rooster which was again hand picked as a patch n added the brooch pin giving rise to a signature and quirky piece!
All the pieces used here can be circled around and used in myriad other looks to create signature looks never seen before but not buying anything new.
Bingo!
The art of upstyling with your existing pieces !
What say ?

As the year closes, going through all my saree looks of the year feels satisfying.
Much inspired to wear more sarees the coming year.
The saree is an emotion…. in so may colours.

The childhood obsession with tie dye fabric and crochet still continues.
Finding both the crafts together perfectly in a saree was magic.
Wearing a saree gives you so much scope to style .
Saree has become a celebration now a days .
Many of us are saree evangelists today.
We can’t even imagine how women used to or still wear a saree day n night ; even when they are sleeping.
I don’t want to take sides.
For some , it’s a way of life , so easy n comfortable.
For some, it’s what they choose to wear at many an event; for the sheer love for the drape.
For some, it’s a tough task which they still embrace for those rare occasions.
Let’s not judge anyone on this .
Let’s all appreciate each other for still holding onto our culture and embracing it whenever we can and however we want to wear it .
Whatz your take ?

Does Love remain the same over years?
Absolutely not!
It goes through seasons.
Spring, summer, autumn, winter.
End?
Not really if you can still revisit the spring.
Allow the flowers to bloom again.
The flowers are not going to bloom again if you do not tend to it , water it, nurture it .
It’s actually lot of work to see the garden like how it used to be .
People say if it is love , it will always run naturally.
If it’s love for just a small period , then yes.
But if you want to keep it long , then there is lot of effort, responsibility, mindfulness, selflessness and a lot more .
People who know long term love ,know what I am talking about!

Peaceful Anniversary to us

(Long term love ,love over the years, childhood friends, living life to the fullest)

Do you judge me by my clothes?
Do you feel uncomfortable that I wear short shorts?
Do you think I should stop wearing spaghettis?
Do you think my gaze is piercing?
Do you feel I should stop posing ?
Can you see my personality beyond what I am wearing?
Would you like to know the character beyond my choice of outfits?
Do you think modesty makes anyone a better person?

Besides the fact that we have to respect our audience at a certain event ,
respect the culture of a certain place ,
respect the environment and attitude of the people of a location, Clothes really don’t define anyone, do not define who they are , their character, or attitude or goodness.
We certainly are beyond the what we wear.
And I don’t think clothes should be more valued and a person.
Clothes do speak for us in the first image but thatz that and not to be taken seriously on all events and throughout life to judge someone.
What do u think ?

(Image , clothes do not define a person, style addiction, styling , living life to the fullest, aging gracefully)

The same dress can be looked at as very formal or we can add elements to it and dress it down for it to look very casual too.
For egs, the suit dress that I am wearing here is very formal; if I add stockings to it , it will look even more formal.
And then I have to team a pumps or a formal shoes with it .
Here I have made it casual by avoiding the stockings and also worn a gladiator to make it look casual n chic.
Do you dress up the same dress to look formal n casual ?

(Formal attire, blazer dress, suit dress, coat dress, gladiator look, )
