(because skimming ≠ research)

We once spent three weeks designing a dashboard. Clean. Minimal. Elegant. Users hated it.

They didn’t want sleek. They wanted busy. Busy meant important. Busy meant their boss would think they were working harder.
Our design made them feel
 exposed.

That’s when we realised: going deeper isn’t about the surface. It’s about what people don’t say.

They lie. To you. To themselves. In surveys. In focus groups. On the street.

Sometimes the clue isn’t in the data at all, it’s in a weird reddit thread about maximalist interiors that suddenly explains why people want apps to feel like cozy libraries.

Our sharpest insights have come from places we weren’t “supposed” to look: customer complaints, off-hand gestures, features hacked together with duct tape and desperate prayers.

Going deeper means staying curious about why people do bizarre things, and then designing for that reality.

You can stay on the surface with your neat little frameworks.
We’ll be down here, in the mess, pulling out the truths that make or break brands.

We’ve all seen billion-dollar brands butcher their logos lately. Congrats, you just went from “luxury cars” to “luxury soap” in one rebrand.

But here’s the real ick (straight from our lead designer): bad logos aren’t always conceptually wrong. They’re just
 off. Imbalanced.

“I personally don’t like logos that are imbalanced,” she nailed it. “There’s technically nothing wrong with them, they work in some contexts, but
”

And that but is everything.

Because you can’t Google “optical balance.” You can’t tutorial your way into that twitch you get after staring at 100 logos until your brain knows something’s off.

That’s our process: entire team crammed in a room, fonts flying, blues debated (think Andy Sachs in her cerulean blue sweater), founders spiraling into childhood anecdotes, and our designers obsessing over how a logo breathes at every size and shade.

Then, out of all that chaos, we craft something that captures your brand essence in a 200px favicon; one that still works on a business card, a billboard, and yes, even embroidered on a polo shirt.

Exactly the kind of chaos fueling our KOMO brainstorms.

Cloud kitchens are a different beast.
No vibe to vibe-check, no space to soak in - just food, opinions, and the tired
‘Pan-Asian 🟰 sushi rolls + chili icons’ playbook.’

So we pushed back.
What if ‘spicy’ wasn’t three sad peppers in a row?
What if Pan-Asian could be bold without screaming ‘edgy’?
What if KOMO just
