✅Since being used in clinical practice, retrievable inferior vena cava filters have been implanted more frequently. When retrieved, these devices theoretically provide the temporary benefit of preventing pulmonary embolism caused by deep vein thrombosis in the lower extremities and reducing filter-related deep vein thrombosis.
✅Standard endovascular retrieval techniques are frequently successful when used as soon as the need for mechanical prophylaxis is no longer apparent. The bulk of these devices, however, are frequently left in place for long stretches of time, which has been linked to more device-related issues when left in place and to the failure of conventional approaches when retrieval is attempted.
