A T R I B U T E : Over a decade ago, in the heart of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, Tigress T-84 Arrowhead reigned supreme, her dominion centered in Zone 3 and 4. Known for her commanding presence and sharp instincts, she was a natural ruler, her amber eyes reflecting both grace and authority. I witnessed a rare moment one golden afternoon by the shimmering waters—Arrowhead sat regally aside, observing her siblings frolic with their mother, T-19 Krishna, a nurturing yet fierce matriarch.The cubs tumbled playfully in the tall grass, their stripes a blur of energy, while Krishna watched with a protective gaze. Arrowhead, even then, held herself apart, her posture steady and watchful. She didn’t join the games; instead, she surveyed the landscape, her stillness a testament to her future leadership. That day, I saw the seeds of her rule—her calm dominance, her silent strength—traits that would soon make her the undisputed queen of Zone 3, a legacy etched in the wilds of Ranthambore.
Today when she breathed last my heartfelt homage to her. May the legacy of T-16 Machhali continues with T-124 Riddhi and cubs of her and Arrowhead.

Eye to eye with Tigress T-111, fondly known as Shakti, she is a daughter of the renowned tigress Krishna (T-19), Shakti has inherited her mother’s legacy, contributing significantly to the reserve’s growing tiger population. In May 2025, Shakti was spotted with two cubs from her second litter, a heartening event for wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists. Her first litter in 2021 produced four cubs, showcasing her prowess as a mother. At around seven years old, Shakti roams Zone 4, including areas like Semli, Berda, and Lakarda, often seen during safaris.During a morning safari in the scorching heat of June, I captured a breathtaking moment: Shakti and one of her cubs, both locking eyes with me. The intense gaze of the mother, protective yet composed, and the curious stare of her cub underscored their bond and resilience in the wild. Currently the Forest Department is closely monitoring Shakti and her cubs, believed to be sired by male tiger T-121.
