Department of Educational Studies, CUJ organizes Farewell “Navpath”.

Jammu, 30 April 2026: The Department of Educational Studies organized a farewell event titled “Navpath” to bid adieu to its graduating students of M.Ed. fourth semester and B.A. B.Ed eighth semester. The event celebrated not an ending, but the beginning of new journeys filled with aspirations, growth, and opportunities. The program commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana, invoking blessings for wisdom and success followed by the welcome address by the Head of the Department, Prof. Asit K. Mantry. The event was graced by the Dean of Students’ Welfare, Prof. Ritu Bakshi, along with other faculty members of the department including Prof. J. N. Baliya, Dr. Kiran, Dr. Aman, Dr. Ravi Vanguri, Dr. Yad Ram, Dr. Mohan Galgotra, Dr. Ravail Singh, Dr. Nidhi Saraf, , Dr. Arushi Baloria Dr. Mridu Sharma and Ms. Shivali. The theme “Navpath” symbolized new beginnings and transitions. Students reflected on their academic journey, cherishing the friendships, values, and experiences gained during their time in the department.

The event featured engaging activities, speeches, and cultural performances, creating an atmosphere of joy and nostalgia. Faculty members shared their words of wisdom, encouraging students to embrace future challenges with confidence. A heartfelt tribute was presented by juniors, expressing gratitude towards seniors for their guidance, mentorship, and unwavering support throughout their academic journey. The graduating students also participated in a number of fun games and based on their performances, Mr. Vishav Partap Singh and Ms. Shagun Katoch from M.Ed and Mr. Mrityunjay Singh and Ms. Jagriti Gupta from B.A B.Ed were felicitated with the titles of Mr. and Miss Farewell respectively.The program concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of faculty, organizers, and students who made the event a grand success. The farewell ended on an emotional yet hopeful note, with best wishes for the bright future of the graduating batch.

Today, I had the privilege of joining Ashwini Vaishnaw and Dr Jitendra Singh at Jammu Railway Station to flag off the Jammu–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, marking a significant milestone in strengthening rail connectivity for Jammu & Kashmir.

I believe this new service signals the beginning of a transformative phase in the region’s development. It will ensure seamless, all-weather connectivity between Jammu and the Kashmir Valley, while significantly boosting mobility, tourism, and economic activity across the region.

Hon’ble MPs, MLAs, and senior officers from Northern Railways and the J&K Government were also present on the occasion.

GDC Samba Organizes Student Discussion Forum on "Swadeshi and Self-Reliant India"
The Shiksh*t Bharat Committee in collaboration with the Department of Commerce of Shri Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College, Samba, successfully organised a Student Discussion Forum on the theme “Swadeshi and Self-Reliant India: Vocal for Local” on April 29, 2026.
The program aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of promoting indigenous products, strengthening the local economy, and fostering the vision of a self-reliant India. The discussion forum witnessed enthusiastic participation of students from diverse streams (Science, Arts and Commerce) who shared their views, ideas, and perspectives on the relevance of the Swadeshi movement in the present economic scenario. The event begins with formal welcome address by Convener Shiksh*t Bharat Committee Dr. Pooja, HOD Commerce. She also emphasized that Atma Nirbhar Bharat is not about buying Indian products but recognising the hardwork of our local Artisans, small businesses and giving them platform they deserve.
During the session, students from Department of Commerce highlighted the significance of supporting local india, startups India, Digital India, local for global, Production linked Incentives, import Substitution and Make in india. They emphasised how adopting a “Vocal for Local” approach can contribute to sustainable development, employment generation, and economic independence. The discussion also touched upon the role of youth in promoting Indian products and preserving cultural and economic heritage.
Prof. (Dr.) Nirlape Kour worthy Principal of college appreciated the active involvement of students and encouraged them to become responsible consumers and advocates of self-reliance. The forum provided an interactive platform for intellectual exchange and critical thinking. The event was attended by Asstt. Prof. Rashmi Kumari, Asstt.Prof. Chinky Sangral and Asstt. Prof. Nidhi Sharma
The proceeding of the forum and vote of thanks was delivered by Asstt. Prof. Babita Kumari, acknowledging the expert supervision of worthy Principal of the college, efforts of organizing committee, faculty members and participants for making the programme a success.

AIIMS Jammu Successfully Performs Complex Reconstructive Urological Surgery, Expands Clinical Services

The Department of Urology at AIIMS Jammu has successfully performed a highly complex reconstructive surgery on a patient suffering from a severe long-segment urethral stricture.

Prior to the procedure, the patient had been experiencing recurrent urinary retention and was entirely dependent on a suprapubic urinary catheter. The surgical procedure was successfully performed by Dr. Yaser Rahman, Assistant Professor, Department of Urology, assisted by Dr. Mohammad Yaseen, Senior Resident, along with the urology team. The challenging Buccal Mucosal Graft (BMG) Urethroplasty involves harvesting tissue from the patient’s inner cheek to reconstruct the urethra and restore normal urinary function.

The Anaesthesia team, led by Dr. Shruti Sharma, Additional Professor, along with Dr. Aleesha Gupta, Assistant Professor, expertly managed the case by providing specialized nasal intubation, ensuring a secure airway while maintaining a clear oral surgical field. This multidisciplinary effort enabled the surgical team to meticulously reconstruct the narrowed urethral segment, significantly improving the patient’s quality of life and offering long-term relief.

This clinical success reflects the steady growth and expanding capabilities of the institution’s urological infrastructure. In addition to its reconstructive achievements, the Department of Urology has recently strengthened its surgical facilities with the addition of a state-of-the-art Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) set. With this advanced equipment, the department is now equipped to provide comprehensive treatment for kidney stones.

The Department is actively expanding its clinical services to manage a wide spectrum of urological conditions, including complex stone disease, uro-oncological cases and intricate reconstructive urology.

Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Sharma, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Jammu, appreciated the efforts of the surgical and anaesthesia teams and commended the department’s continuous progress. He stated, “Successfully treating such a complex long-segment urethral stricture is a testament to the high level of surgical expertise available at AIIMS Jammu. With the continuous strengthening of our infrastructure, including the recent addition of the PCNL set for advanced kidney stone management, our Department of Urology is well-positioned to deliver advanced super-specialty care. We remain committed to expanding our services so that patients across the region can access specialized urological treatment closer to home.”
