*Sopore Police Continues Sporting Events Under CAP 2026-27; Volleyball Tournament Inaugurated at Dooru.*

Sopore, September 13, 2026:

Continuing its series of sports and youth engagement activities under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27, Sopore Police inaugurated a Volleyball Tournament at Government High School Dooru, Sopore.

A total of eight teams from across Police District Sopore are participating in the tournament, providing young players a platform to showcase their talent and compete in a positive sporting environment. On the opening day, three matches were played with enthusiasm and true sporting spirit.

The tournament follows the Handball Tournament recently organised at Khushal Sports Stadium, Sopore, as part of a series of sporting events being conducted by Sopore Police under CAP 2026-27.

These initiatives are aimed at connecting with youth, encouraging local sporting talent and providing better platforms to showcase their abilities, besides channelising their energy towards positive and constructive activities and strengthening police-public relations at the grassroots level.

Sopore Police will continue to organise sports and youth-oriented activities across the Police District under CAP 2026-27, creating meaningful opportunities for young people and encouraging greater participation in sports.

Sanctorum Public School Football Team Set to Represent J&K at Subroto Mukerjee International Cup 2026

Sopore, Jammu & Kashmir | 11 September 2026

Sanctorum Public School, Sopore, is all set to represent Jammu & Kashmir at the prestigious Subroto Mukerjee International Inter-School Football Tournament 2026 in New Delhi.

A Kit Distribution Ceremony was held today at Sanctorum Public School, where the official playing kits, provided by the Youth Services & Sports Department, J&K, were formally handed over to the team. The ceremony marked an important milestone for the young footballers as they prepare to embark on their national-level campaign.

The team will leave for New Delhi on Sunday, 13 September 2026, and will play its first match on 15 September 2026 in New Delhi.

The team earned its place in the national finals after a commendable performance at the qualifying stages and will now carry the hopes of Jammu & Kashmir onto one of the country’s most prestigious school football platforms.

The School Management congratulated the players, coaches and support staff for their hard work and dedication and expressed confidence that the team will represent the Union Territory with determination, discipline and sportsmanship.

The school also expressed its gratitude to the Youth Services & Sports Department, J&K, for providing the playing kits and for its continued support in encouraging young sporting talent in the region.

Sanctorum Public School wishes the team every success as they leave for New Delhi to proudly represent Jammu & Kashmir on the national stage.

*SSP Sopore Chairs Monthly Crime, Law & Order and Security Review Meeting*

Sopore, September 11, 2026:

SSP Sopore today chaired the monthly Crime, Law & Order and Security Review Meeting at the Conference Hall, DPO Sopore, to review the overall crime situation, investigation of cases, public service delivery, law & order preparedness and security scenario across Police District Sopore.

The meeting was attended by Addl. SP Sopore, SDPOs, DySP DAR, DySP Operations, Sr. PO DPO Sopore, SHOs and DOs.

*A threadbare review of old pending as well as current-year cases under investigation was conducted. Officers were directed to ensure quality and time-bound investigation, expeditious disposal of pending cases and strict adherence to timelines prescribed under the new criminal laws.* Particular emphasis was laid on effective implementation of provisions of the new laws to ensure prompt and hassle-free delivery of police services to the general public.

*The crime review also focused on cases relating to NDPS, UAPA, crimes against women and children, property offences and other serious crimes. Officers were directed to strengthen investigation, improve follow-up and ensure effective action against drug trafficking and other organised criminal activities.*

The law & order and security preparedness across the district was reviewed in detail, with particular focus on vulnerable areas and locations. Officers were directed to maintain a high degree of alertness, strengthen area domination and surveillance, enhance inter-unit coordination and increase intelligence-based counter-terror operations.

*SSP Sopore also stressed timely disposal of verifications and other public services, prompt redressal of grievances and increased interaction with citizens through regular public outreach. SHOs and field officers were directed to remain accessible to the public and strengthen police-public cooperation at the grassroots level.*

Concluding the meeting, SSP Sopore directed all officers to maintain professionalism, accountability and close supervision at every level, with sustained focus on effective investigation, public service delivery, law & order management and maintenance of a secure and peaceful environment across Police District Sopore.

*110 Psychotropic Tablets Recovered During Naka Checking at Lawaypora, One Arre_sted*

Srinagar 9th September(BAN) During routine naka checking at Lawaypora Mujgund Irrigation Canal, security personnel intercepted a person who was reportedly carrying a blue polythene bag in his right hand while travelling from Mujgund towards Lawaypora.

Reports reaching to news agency Buland awaaz (BAN) upon noticing the naka party, the individual allegedly attempted to flee from the spot. However, the naka party acted promptly and apprehended him.

During a search of the polythene bag, officials recovered 110 tablets of psychotropic substances, including 60 Alprazolam tablets, 30 Tramadol tablets and 20 Tapentadol tablets.

The person was identified as Kifayat Abdullah, son of Mohammad Abdullah Hakim, resident of Mohalla Jalal Sahib, Baramulla, presently residing at Rehmat Lane, Umerabad, Srinagar.

F1R No. 101/2026 has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation has been initiated.(BAN)

It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of Mohammad Akbar Ganaie, resident of Hatishah, Sopore, lovingly known as “Akbar Mama.”

He was a truly kind, humble and warm-hearted person who always treated everyone with love and respect. His sudden passing has left a deep emptiness in our hearts. I will always cherish his memories and the kindness he showed me.

May Allah SWT forgive him, bless him with Jannat-ul-Firdous, and grant the entire family

MACADAMIZATION WORK BEGINS IN WARD 14, SOPORE

Macadamization work has commenced on the NaharPora–Shalpora road in Ward No. 14, Sopore, marking another step towards improving road connectivity and providing better commuting facilities to residents.

The development is expected to bring much-needed relief to the people of the area and improve the overall condition of the road.
