Red Cross Society Kashmir Organises Drug De-addiction Awareness Programme at GDC Khansahib
The Red Cross Society Kashmir on Wednesday organised a drug de-addiction awareness programme at Government Degree College (GDC) Khansahib, Budgam, in collaboration with the college administration, the Health Department, and the Police Department.
The programme witnessed a huge gathering of students, faculty members, officials from various departments, and members of civil society. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Khansahib, Shri Jahangir Ahmad Giri, attended the event as the chief guest.
Addressing the participants, the speakers highlighted the alarming impact of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society. They urged the students to stay away from drugs, create awareness among their peers and communities, and play an active role in curbing the growing menace of substance abuse. The speakers stressed that collective efforts by educational institutions, families, government departments, and society are essential to building a drug-free future.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which students actively participated and reaffirmed their commitment to spreading awareness and supporting the fight against drug addiction.

A comprehensive review meeting on the beautification, development, and upgradation of infrastructure at the renowned tourist destination of Yousmarg was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Speaker of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly and MLA Charar-e-Sharief, Abdul Rahim Rather.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer of the Yousmarg Development Authority, Riyaz Ahmad Beigh, along with senior officials from the Tourism Department, Forest Department, Public Works (R&B) Department, BSNL, and other line departments.

During the meeting, the progress of ongoing developmental works and future plans aimed at enhancing Yousmarg's tourism potential were reviewed in detail. Discussions focused on beautification projects, improvement of public infrastructure, strengthening of basic amenities, and measures to make Yousmarg a more attractive destination for tourists.

Officials from various departments briefed the chair on their respective action plans and outlined initiatives for upgrading roads, improving tourism facilities, preserving the area's natural beauty, and ensuring coordinated development.

The issue of mobile and internet connectivity in the tourist destination was also discussed, with BSNL officials deliberating on measures to improve communication facilities for visitors and local residents.

The meeting also deliberated on the proposal to include the adjoining Haijan area under the Yousmarg tourism development plan with the objective of creating a "Greater Yousmarg" tourism circuit, thereby expanding tourism activities and generating greater livelihood opportunities for the local population.

Chairing the meeting, Abdul Rahim Rather stressed the need for timely ex*****on of developmental projects and close coordination among all departments to transform Yousmarg into a world-class tourist destination while ensuring sustainable development and maximum benefits for the local community.

Charar-e-Sharief Hosts Literary Event in Memory of Ali Mohammad Shahbaz
A literary and commemorative function was organised at Charar-e-Sharief by Kashmir Markaz-e-Adab wa Saqafat in collaboration with Cardiff School to pay tribute to the renowned Kashmiri poet, writer, educationist and social thinker, Late Ali Mohammad Shahbaz.
The event was presided over by Dr. Abdul Hafeez Masoodi, Special Secretary, Information Technology Department, Jammu & Kashmir, with Dr. G. N. War as Chief Guest and Ghulam Hassan Gamgeen as Guest of Honour. Eminent literary personalities highlighted Shahbaz's invaluable contribution to Kashmiri language, literature and education, describing him as a visionary whose legacy continues to inspire generations.
The programme also witnessed the release of Nissar Ahmad Dildar's new book, Qulzum-e-Faizan, followed by a poetry session in which leading poets presented tributes to the late literary icon.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Owais Ahmad Mattoo, Director of Cardiff School, who reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to preserving and promoting Kashmir's literary heritage.

A five years old girl Killed After Dumper Hits Her in Handwara.

A five year old girl was killed after being hit by a dumper vehicle at Khanpora near the Handwara check post on Tuesday, officials said. The deceased has been identified as Hafsa Isaq, daughter of Isaq Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Vodpora. She was reportedly struck by a dumper while in the area and sustained critical injuries. Locals and family members rushed the child to Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara for treatment. However, doctors declared her brought dead on arrival. Police reached the spot soon after the incident and took the accused driver into custody. A police officer confirmed the arrest and said legal proceedings have been initiated in the case. Police have registered a case and further investigation has been set into motion to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident.

بڈگام، 28 جون: فیروز کلچرل فورم کشمیر کے زیرِ اہتمام، جموں و کشمیر اکیڈمی آف آرٹ، کلچر اینڈ لینگویجز کے اشتراک سے نل ناگ، چاڈورہ میں منعقدہ دو روزہ تھیٹر کانفرنس آج کامیابی کے ساتھ اختتام پذیر ہوگئی۔
اختتامی تقریب کی صدارت جموں و کشمیر قانون ساز اسمبلی کے معزز اسپیکر اور ایم ایل اے چرارِ شریف عبدالرحیم رادر نے بطور مہمانِ خصوصی کی۔
کانفرنس میں وادی کشمیر کی ممتاز ادبی، ثقافتی اور تھیٹر شخصیات نے شرکت کی، جن میں پروفیسر شاد رمضان، شمشاد کرالوری، محمد امین بھٹ، مشتاق علی خان، اظہر حاجنی اور دیگر کئی معروف ادیب، ڈرامہ نگار، براڈکاسٹر اور دانشور شامل تھے۔
اس موقع پر فیروز کلچرل فورم کی جانب سے "نشہ مکت ابھیان" کے موضوع پر ایک مؤثر ڈرامائی اسکیٹ پیش کیا گیا، جس میں نوجوانوں کو منشیات سے دور رہنے کا پیغام دیا گیا۔
تقریب کے دوران دو کتابوں کی رسمِ اجرا بھی انجام دی گئی۔ پہلی کتاب "امہ بنیو صاحب" معروف تھیٹر فنکار رشید ریشی کی تصنیف ہے، جبکہ دوسری کتاب "کاؤ کرن تاؤ تاؤ" تھیٹر فنکار محمد حنیف کی تخلیق ہے۔
کانفرنس کے دوران مختلف شعبوں میں نمایاں خدمات انجام دینے والی شخصیات کو سالانہ اعزازات سے بھی نوازا گیا۔ ڈاکٹر عزیز حاجنی میموریل ایوارڈ معروف ادیب، ہدایت کار اور فنکار گلزار احمد گنائی کو دیا گیا۔ عبدالاحد گلشن میموریل ایوارڈ ریاض احمد مگرے کے نام رہا، جبکہ محمد اشرف میر میموریل ایوارڈ علی محمد شیرازی کو پیش کیا گیا۔ اسی طرح سماجی خدمات کے اعتراف میں شانِ بڈگام ایوارڈ ڈاکٹر شگفتہ رادر کو عطا کیا گیا۔
تقریب سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے مقررین نے کشمیر کی تہذیب، زبان، ادب اور تھیٹر کے فروغ پر زور دیا اور نوجوان نسل کو ثقافتی سرگرمیوں سے جوڑنے کی ضرورت پر روشنی ڈالی۔

بڈگام، 26 جون: یومِ عاشورہ (10 محرم الحرام) کے موقع پر آج میرگنڈ، بڈگام سے مرکزی امام باڑہ، بڈگام کی جانب ایک عظیم الشان جلوسِ عزا برآمد ہوا، جس میں ہزاروں عزادار حضرت امام حسینؑ اور شہدائے کربلا کو خراجِ عقیدت پیش کرنے کے لیے شریک ہیں۔
جلوس کی قیادت صدر انجمنِ شرعی شیعیان جموں و کشمیر کر رہے ہیں۔ عزادار نوحہ خوانی، مرثیہ خوانی اور ماتم کے ذریعے واقعۂ کربلا کی یاد تازہ کرتے ہوئے انتہائی عقیدت و احترام کے ساتھ آہستہ آہستہ مرکزی امام باڑہ، بڈگام کی جانب بڑھ رہے ہیں۔
