BARAMULLA POLICE NABS DRUG PEDDLER IN KAMALKOTE; CHARAS LIKE SUBSTANCE RECOVERED

*Baramulla | May 25, 2026*

Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Baramulla Police apprehended a drug peddler during patrolling in the Madiya area of Kamalkote. A patrolling party of Police Post Kamalkote observed a suspicious person who, on noticing the police party, attempted to conceal himself and flee from the spot. Acting swiftly, the police party apprehended the individual on the spot.

During preliminary questioning, the person identified himself as Muhammad Safir Sheikh S/O Abdul Majid Sheikh R/O Madiya, Kamalkote. During search, approximately 29 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, FIR No. 52/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Uri and investigation into the matter has been taken up.

Baramulla Police remains committed towards eradicating the menace of drugs from society and urges the general public to cooperate with police by sharing information related to drug peddling and substance abuse.

Adv. Naveed Bukhtiyar Visits Lagnate to Condole Demise of MP Er. Rashid’s Father

24, Langate: Adv. Naveed Bukhtiyar today visited Lagnate to meet Member of Parliament, Baramulla Er. Rashid and MLA Lagnate Khurshid Ahmad Sheikh to offer condolences on the sad demise of their beloved father.

During the visit, Adv. Naveed Bukhtiyar expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family in this moment of grief and mourning.

While sharing the grief of the family, Adv. Naveed Bukhtiyar stated that the passing away of a father is an immeasurable loss and leaves a void that can never truly be filled. He said that such difficult moments demand patience, faith, and collective support from family, friends, and well-wishers.

Adv. Naveed Bukhtiyar prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed hope that the Almighty grants the deceased the highest place in Jannah and bestows strength, patience, and courage upon Er. Rashid and the entire bereaved family to endure this profound loss.

He further conveyed that in moments of sorrow and bereavement, standing with one another and sharing grief is a reflection of compassion and humanity. He prayed that the family finds solace and comfort during this difficult period and that the departed soul rests in eternal peace.
