Srinagar Police Tightens Noose on Drug Network, Attaches Properties Worth ₹4 Crore Under NDPS Act

Assets Linked to Two Alleged Drug Peddlers Seized in Sangam and Nowhatta; Houses, Shops and Land Brought Under Legal Attachment

In a major blow to narcotics networks operating in the Valley, Srinagar Police on Monday attached immovable properties worth approximately ₹4 crore belonging to two alleged drug peddlers under the provisions of the NDPS Act.

The action, carried out as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, targeted assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of drug trafficking, reaffirming the police's resolve to dismantle the financial backbone of the narcotics trade.

As per news agency JKNS, Police has attached immovable properties worth approximately ₹4 crore belonging to two drug peddlers under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.

Police Station Sangam attached properties worth approximately ₹3 crore belonging to Gulam Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Mohammad Dar, in connection with FIR No. 14/2026 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act.

The attached assets include a residential house, land and commercial shops. Investigation established that the properties were acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking.

In a separate action, Police Station Nowhatta attached a residential property worth approximately ₹1 crore belonging to Mohd Shafi Sheikh S/o Late Mohd Subhan Sheikh, in connection with FIR No. 09/2018 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act. The property was identified as an illegally acquired asset generated through drug trafficking.

The attachments were carried out under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act to prevent concealment, transfer or disposal of properties derived from illicit narcotics trade.

Srinagar Police remains committed to dismantling narcotics networks by targeting both drug traffickers and the assets generated through criminal activities. Such action shall continue under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan. Together, let us build a Drug-Free Kashmir. (JKNS)

Rural Police Jammu Apprehends Bootlegger; 108 Quarters of Illegal Liquor Recovered

Continuing its drive against the illegal liquor trade under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Rural Police Jammu achieved another success by apprehending a bootlegger and recovering a large quantity of illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of Police Station Domana.

Acting on reliable source information, a police party of Border Police Post Sandwan (PS Domana) conducted a raid at the residence of Parveen Lal S/o Manga Ram R/o Bhagatpur.

During the operation, 108 quarters of JK Desi Whisky were recovered from his possession and the accused was apprehended on the spot.

In this regard, FIR No. 124/2026 under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Domana and further investigation is underway.

Rural Police Jammu remains committed to taking strict action against those involved in illegal liquor trade and other unlawful activities to ensure peace and public order in the district.

Police Intensify War Against Drugs; Four Drug Peddlers Arrested in Anantnag & Sopore

J&K Police continued its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking with successful anti-narcotics operations in Anantnag and Sopore, leading to the arrest of four drug peddlers and the recovery of contraband substances.

In Anantnag, a police party from Police Station Bijbehara, while conducting routine naka checking at Tarbal Guree, intercepted and apprehended an individual identified as Zahid Ali Dar son of Ali Mohammad Dar a resident of Guree Bijbehara. During search, police recovered 113 grams of charas sticks from his possession.

Accordingly, Case FIR No. 152/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara. Investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source of the contraband substance and identify the intended distribution network.

Meanwhile, Police in Sopore apprehended three drug peddlers during patrolling on the Model Town–Brath Link Road falling within the jurisdiction of Police Post Bus Stand. During the operation, police recovered psychotropic substances, including SpasmoProxyvon Plus and SP capsules, from their possession. The contraband was seized in accordance with due legal procedure.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Arsalan Nabi Zargar son of Ghulam Nabi Zargar, Waseem Nabi Wani son of Ghulam Nabi Wani, both residents of Model Town-B, Sopore and Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Rashid Sheikh resident of Bohripora, Sopore.

In this connection, FIR No. 134/2026 has been registered at Police Station Sopore. Further investigation is underway to uncover the source of the seized substances and identify any wider network involved in narcotics trafficking.
