‘Science Education in the Digital Era’ – Panel Discussion on May 17
Trivandrum May 15 2019 – Talentspire, an educational initiative started by a group of professionals from the Educational and Information Technology industries with the objective of inspiring talent in science learning; on May 17, 2019 is organizing a one-day seminar on the topic – ‘Science Education in the Digital Era’.
The session will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Hotel Mascot. Leading and renowned educationalists, technologists and scientists from leading institutions in Kerala are expected to participate in this discussion. Prof. Achutshankar S Nair, Head – Dept of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics, University of Kerala will be the moderator of the discussion. Padmavibhushan Dr. G Madhavan Nair, Former Chairman of ISRO; Padmavibhushan Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, Former Chairman ISRO and Former Chairman JNU; M C Dattan, Former Director of VSSC and Scientific Advisor to Chief Minister of Kerala; Dr. P P Chandrachoodan, Former Program Officer of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre; Dr. S K Satheesh, Professor, Centre for Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Director, Divecha Centre for Climate Change; and Dr. Oommen V Oommen, Chairman Kerala Biodiversity Board; Dr. Suresh Das, Former Executive Vice President, KSCSTE & Principal Secretary to Govt., Science & Technology Department; and Mr. M Muneer leading Educational Strategist & Columnist; are the eminent panelists who shall be deliberating discussion on the aforesaid topic.
The event will also be graced by 16-year-old Samay Godika, an Indian origin US citizen, the winner of this year’s ‘Breakthrough Junior Challenge’ ($400,000 prize money) for his video submitted in the life sciences category on circadian rhythms, which are physical, mental and behavioral changes that follow a daily cycle. He along with his mentor will be awarded with the Talentspire Science Achievement Award. The company will also felicitate Prof S K Satheesh who won the Infosys Prize for 2018 in Physical Sciences.
The seminar will be attended by leading technologists, educationalists, scientists and Principals and management of various schools across the state.
