Small details tend to get lost in the big picture, but they are how ever an integral part of it. Á gönguferð um miðborg Reykjavíkur snemma árs 2009 varð hugmyndin að þessari bók til. Þá velti ég fyrir mér muninum á því að sjá og taka eftir og í kjölfarið tók ég að horfa nánar á nærumhverfið og uppgötvaði þá hversu mörg grafísk smá-atriði leynast allt um kring. Smáatriðin eiga það til að týnast í h

eildinni en eru þó órjúfanlegur hluti hennar. Ég fór að ganga kerfisbundið um götur miðborgarinnar og taka myndir. Þessi bók er afrakstur þeirrar vinnu, sem stóð í fjögur ár. The idea for this book was born in early 2009 during a stroll in Reyjavik city centre. I then contemplated the difference between seeing and noticing, and subsequently began to look more closely at my surroundings. I started to perceive the graphic
details around Reykjavik that I had previously not consciously noticed. It was then that I decided to systematically walk through the streets of downtown Reykjavik, and photograph these small, often missed details. Während eines Spazierganges im Winter 2009 durch die Stadtmitte von Reykjavik entstand die Idee zu diesem Buch. Ich fing an zu Überlegen worin der Unterschied zwischen Sehen und Bemerken liegt und fing an die nähere Umgebung genauer zu betrachten. Ich habe festgestellt wie gross die Vielfalt an grafischen Details in der Umgebung ist, wie diese sich häufig im Gesamtbild verlieren aber gleichzeitig ein wichtiger Bestandteil des ganzen sind. Daraufhin fing ich an die Strassen des Zentrums von Reykjavik systematisch abzulichten. Dieses Buch, das insgesamt vier Jahre in Bearbeitung war, zeigt eine Auswahl der interessantesten details in der Stadlandschaft von Reykjaviks Stadtmitte. Agli inizi del 2009, durante una passeggiata nel centro di Reykjavik mi è venuta l’idea di questo libro. In quel momento mi sono chiesta quale fosse la differenza tra vedere e notare, e così ho iniziato a guardare più all’altezza dei miei occhi e così ho scoperto quanti dettagli grafici ci sono intorno. I dettagli tendono a perdersi nella visione globale delle cose, ma sono parte integrante di esse. Ho camminato sistematicamente attraverso le vie del centro scattando foto. Questo libro è il risultato di quel lavoro, che è durato quattro anni.
