In May 2026, the island hosted the Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup Preliminary Regatta Sardinia – the first event on the – bringing one of the world’s most prestigious sailing competitions to the Gulf of Angels in Cagliari and placing the spotlight on a destination traditionally associated with summer tourism.
