In the Electra Sophocles stages a harsh verbal confrontation between Electra and her mother Clytemnestra.
During the confrontation, Clytemnestra justifies her actions (the killing of Agamemnon, Electra's father and her husband).
Clytemnestra's main argument is the senseless cruelty of Agamemnon willing to sacrifice his daughter (Ifigenia) for the expedition to Ilium.
Faced with Agamemnon's ruthlessness, the pain of a mother, an ignored bride and D**e herself (justice) could only call Clytemnestra to revenge.

Nell'Elettra Sofocle mette in scena un duro confronto verbale tra Elettra e sua madre Clitennestra.
Durante il confronto Clitennestra giustifica il proprio operato (l'uccisione di Agamennone padre di Elettra e suo sposo).
Il principale argomento di Clitennestra è l'insensata crudeltà di Agamennone disposto a sacrificare la figlia (Ifigenia) a vantaggio della spedizione verso Ilio.
Di fronte alla spietatezza di Agamennone il dolore di una madre, di una sposa ignorata e D**e stessa(la giustizia) non potevano che chiamare Clitennestra alla vendetta.
