Surreal’s marketing strategy was nothing short of bold.

Instead of hiring real celebrities, they found regular people with famous names to promote their cereal like Dwayne Johnson, a bus driver, and Serena Williams, a student.

Their billboards quickly went viral, with the clever use of names making waves across social media. And despite some legal pushback, the campaign left a lasting impression.

As put it:
“We can’t afford famous celebrities, so we just found normal people with famous names and paid them to say nice things about our cereal. Now we can use their names wherever we like and no one can stop us*
*We didn’t check that with legal, but we’re sure it’s fine - right ?”

The Billboard Battle of BMW vs. Audi in Los Angeles.

Audi kicked off the rivalry with a billboard that ignited BMW’s retaliation. BMW’s response of “Checkmate” across from Audi’s billboard was the declaration of war.

Audi went on responding to BMW with “Your Pawn is No Match for our King” to which BMW replied in a very cold and creative way by tying an inflatable Zeppelin with their F1 car and a finishing “Game Over”.

This shows the power of strategic rivalry in advertising. This showdown not only showcased their marketing genius but also left a lasting impact on the luxury car industry. Great marketing? Absolutely. A thrilling rivalry? Without a doubt!

1. **Don’t sound Salesy.**

Nobody likes to feel pushed into a sale. People buy when their emotions are triggered or when you highlight a common problem they can relate to. Instead of just showcasing your product or service, create value— and do it for FREE. This way, you’ll cultivate recurring customers who are more likely to have a positive experience with your brand. Make it effortless for them to buy your product or service through easy links in your bio or on your website.

2. **Make sure your posts hit at least one of the “Three E’s.**

▪️Engage - Your content should spark interest or curiosity.
▪️Entertain - Entertaining reels and posts encourage sharing, which significantly boosts reach and visibility.
▪️Educate - Provide valuable insights that make your post worthy of being saved, shared, or liked. This will significantly boost its visibility.

3. **Use clean and relatable Designs.**

Overworked and crowded designs are unappealing and cause confusion. Keep your message clear, and let your content feel natural. Commercial-style posts don’t perform as well as a simple, authentic video of someone speaking on their phone’s camera.

4. **Copy trending posts in your Niche.**

Ever heard the saying, “Good artists copy, great artists steal”? It’s not about literally stealing but rather taking someone else’s style and knowledge and making it your own. If something works, understand why and replicate it in your own style and tone.

5. **Know your Audience.**

Study your customers, your visitors, and adjust your strategy based on what you learn. Replying to comments and DMs in a timely manner is crucial for building a bond with your community. Ask questions, run polls, and post daily to keep your users active and engaged.
