If we thought that 2020 was already a troubled year, 2021 has proven that there is no limit to drastic changes. With even more dramatic images on the news of -19’s deaths as we are seeing from India, and the decisive elections for London’s new Mayor that could choose how will move forward, May is up to now the month that could best sum up the pillars from our TrendMonitor 2021-22 the . Post ideological policy has transformed politics into a market arena, driven by money. There is no connection with “real” society. Policies that govern and benefit real society are debated on their cost. The “politics” of running society must have a motivated connection to benefit real society.

Great moments of crisis offer great moments of opportunity to reunify national goals for common interests. The Pandemic is a common enemy that we need to unify against, but we will be tempted with selfish survival impulses.

The MorphAge shows a chance for recovery, if we are united in an urgent global survival. An urgent survival nature must be shared as an act of unification. We must leave behind local interests to come together with the best energies for a transnational identity.

The environment is in crisis and it’s not going quietly. This problem is not going away without action. If we’re not careful to save the environment, it will bring all of us down with it. We should admit that our actions caused this crisis and only our actions can prevent total catastrophe.

The MorphAge asks us to reconsider the environmental crisis, not as objective observers, but as participants in its failure. We created this crisis together, but we can save ourselves. We can no longer stand idly by while a fire we helped build threatens to burn us all. We are at a phase where we must realize our failure to take care of the environment.

As humans, we are both the heros and villans of climate change. We must remove those factors which feed the flames. Both sides are fighting the climate crisis, but in different directions.

We must unite and act together to save the environment or risk losing ourselves to it. The MorphAge shows us the only way out of crisis is swift action taken together.

Cultural modes indicate in the MorphAge there is an issue to substitute the consumption drives with ethical insights. There are many roadblocks on the journey to enacting a common standard of ethics, but we must be swift to focus on the big issues.

In order to achieve these goals, we must bypass ineffectual communication and performative action. This is a great project of moralization and realization that needs to happen to combat performative ethics.

We must replace the performative nature of inclusivity which may have good intentions, but ultimately cloud the final goals. Avoid futile and ingenuine efforts in the cause for positive change, if they only serve as a diversion. Authentic inclusivity and diversity require action to achieve the final goals of cultural ethics.

The society we inherited is a frightened one. We are undergoing massive change on all fronts: climate change, a global health crisis, and social upheaval. The future of our society is frightening because of the instability of the present.

Surviving this instability into a frightening future becomes the major theme of society in the present. Survival is deeply tied to the physical isolation we face currently. Isolation is a functioning tool of survival, allowing us to survive against a viral and invisible enemy which thrives in mass amounts of physical connection. Directly related to the pandemic, isolation suggests themes of preservation and purification.

During this great change as a society, what are we going to preserve to take with us into the frightening future? What will help us survive this great ?

Everything from our personality to medical infrastructure can be measured in 1s and 0s. This creates a dual identity, one physical and one existing digitally. With the Pandemic at our heels, the self removes itself physically but stays connected digitally. It is a moment in which isolation and not connection is the fundamental figure for the physical self.

How do we keep social connections without physical contact? A heavy reliance on the digital society. Society is moving digital, leaving the physical self behind in isolation. Technology acts to unite the existing digital social infrastructure with our increasingly digital identities. We must hold onto those parts of our identities which cannot exist digitally if we are to survive the physical isolation of the pandemic.
