Fran Silvestre defies gravity on the northern coast of Egypt with a minimalist villa inspired by the figure of the sphinx: a bold cantilevered volume suspended over the water transforms the Mediterranean into an almost unreal presence.
More than a formal gesture, the project was born as an exercise in gravitational tension. A single vertical element supports the living volume projected toward the sea, making the house appear as a mass suspended in the void.
Behind this apparent impossibility lies a sophisticated structural logic: the lower body of the house counterbalances the large upper cantilever, while the vertical core becomes the true resisting element of the entire composition.
Fran Silvestre works on the extreme reduction of material, using sharp geometries, extremely thin sections, and continuous surfaces to alter the perception of weight and gravity.
The suspended volume houses exclusively the master suite, conceived as a sort of autonomous home overlooking the Mediterranean, where light, glass, and the horizon continually dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior.
A radical, silent and almost abstract architecture, where the landscape becomes a perceptual experience.
