I interviewed David Orban, president of SingularityU Italy, and Roberto Santolamazza, managing director of t2i, to discover the role of young people in this technological revolution and how companies can actually empower employees by embracing new techs to help develop their organization.

Some presentations first.

SingularityU Italy is the Italian branch of the Singularity University based in California at the NASA Research Park and is one of the highest authorities on high tech development and exponential technologies’ application.

Instead, t2i is a Venetian company aiming at developing local companies through innovative paths, collaborative networks and financial aid coming from national and European public funds.

With this brief interview, I tried to recap the lectio magistralis (from Latin: masterclass) of David Orban at the Botanical Garden of Padua (Italy) on the new relationship between human and machine.

Leitmotifs of the summit were what young people and entrepreneurs can do to surf the digital wave and scale with exponential technologies. So, David Orban gave us a wider vision brought up from an international point of view, while Roberto Santolamazza contextualized the subject from a local point of view.

Great key points of the speech were the role of failure, read as experimentation and the only way to grow, and the role of temporary management.

Try, fail, learn, develop, repeat. This is the innovation schedule.

On the other hand, temporary management is the only way to bring high professional skills into an organization, above all in an Italian context where small and middle enterprises can’t afford talented professionals.

So, SMEs should consider technology as just a tool to reach their goals and invest in shared skilled young professionals who can hold the fort down.
