📌 It has now been just over two weeks since the beginning of the second term of the 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, and what we are witnessing is a true rollback of minorities rights that, although expected, is happening much more rapidly than anticipated.
💻 In just two weeks, giants like Meta, Amazon, and McDonald’s have taken massive steps backward regarding DEI policies, discarding all the goals set during the previous administration.
🗯️ In just two weeks, Meta has cut ties with third-party fact-checking agencies and removed restrictions on the terminology used, thus allowing fake news and hate speech to spread freely on its platforms.
📝 In just two weeks (on his first day in office, to be precise), Trump declared that there are only two genders through executive orders that limit the recognition of transgender identities, imposing a binary view of gender.
🔇 What is happening in the United States is a tangible case of identity erasure: it is not just about expressing disagreement on a topic but about completely erasing it, so that one day it is no longer even discussed.
✊Now more than ever, we have the power to make a difference. Let’s carefully choose the words we (don’t) say, fight together, and support each other.
