For VIDA’s 1st birthday, we wanted to build a Gen Z community.

It’s incredible how many Gen Z solo-entrepreneurs and creatives there are in Jersey, but no one was meeting each other.

There was no where we could meet likeminded Gen Zers.

True, there are networking events in Jersey, but they can be intimidating for someone in their early twenties and to be taken seriously is another story.

It was refreshing NOT having to explain what VIDA does, explain what TikTok is, or explain who Gen Z are and then once explained, have to back myself up like you wouldn’t believe. Everyone in that room gets it.

We are the ones shaping the future and it was so powerful to see all of us in one space.

I spoke with people who are trying to bring TikTok into their workplace or who are trying to utilise the power of UGC, but they’re not being taken seriously.

These are the businesses that will close within the next 5-10 years. If they don’t win Gen Z over now, they will fall off our radar.

We all shared the same thoughts; things need to change.

For the longevity of the island, the way the travel industry looks for Jersey and the fact that Gen Z need older generations to trust us.

Change is scary but when you have an entire generation saying the same thing, change is absolutely necessary.

Gen Z are here already and we’re making our own moves to pave our own way to success. That is what Gen Z are so good at. Thursday proved that to us all.

This was a one off event and if successful, we would hold more events like this. It was a huge success and we will definitely be holding more events in the future!! Watch this space.

I am absolutely over the moon to announce that VIDA has been shortlisted for the South East regional UK StartUp awards 2024.

VIDA is up for Marketing, Advertising & PR StartUp of the Year!

Being the Channel Islands first and only Gen Z marketing and management agency, VIDA has made a huge impact on our local and national industry. It is amazing to see that we are being recognised. Especially being from Jersey!

I am beyond proud of what we have collectively achieved since VIDA began. My team have been an incredible asset, VIDA would be nothing without them.

I remember getting emails about these awards, I started the application but stopped halfway through and never sent it off, all because of imposter syndrome.

We got nominated anyway and to me, that means so much more. Thank you 💚

You don’t need another Threads breakdown, but…

You DO need to know what it means for Gen Z

🧵Just like TikTok and Instagram, Threads has a complete focus on users and creators. The feed feels like a universal group chat with friends and brands.

⚡️What does this mean for Gen Z?

🧵The global group chat vibe is a unique experience. It's being compared to Twitter and Myspace (never used it!), but the difference is, Threads already has the majority of your existing community there. No need to start from scratch or chase hashtag strategies.

🧵At this moment in time, growth on this platform relies on funny, relatable, shareable content that people actually care about. This is exactly the same for TikTok, before paid ads became a thing on the platform. Gen Z thrives on this kind of content.

❌ Brands that treat Threads like Twitter don’t seem to succeed. But why? They lack a distinct voice, brand identity, sense of self, authenticity, and value to add. It's like trying to sell something in a group chat—it just doesn't work, unless it’s a pyramid scheme 🤷‍♀️

❌Over-produced, inauthentic content just doesn't work with us and my hope is that with Threads being a product of Meta, brands respect the shift and move with the times, the right way.

💚 Why I love it:

✅ So far, no hate or politics. It's all about positive vibes, although that may change over time unfortunately. The user-friendly feed, friendly atmosphere, clean design, and zero chaotic hashtags make it SO much better than Twitter (in my opinion).

✅ Brands have an amazing opportunity to maintain authenticity but also proving that waiting for approval is harming their marketing strategy. When it feels like a group chat and you want to post as a brand, go for it (with caution, of course!) It adds instant authenticity and helps build your community, which is key.

Threads align perfectly with what Gen Z and VIDA stand for: Value, Identity, Directness, and Authenticity. Threads embody our values, which is why I absolutely love it. I cant wait to see what developments are on the way!

From a marketing point of view, we think that is a powerful way for brands to reach communities authentically. Will we be adding this into our services? YES.
