For those of you wandering who is the mysterious French winner of the Island Ark Virtual Vendee Challenge, here he is today accepting the 2020/21 Trophy aboard Times Like These. Guilain is now an experienced real sailor rather than just a virtual legend. Felicitations et bienvenue a la flotte 😁👍

No more nights of setting my alarm clock to change course - Chez Moi has also joined the finishers, and Times Like These is happily settled in Greece. As with the real race, many of the "Jersey conquers the World" fleet are still out there battling the Atlantic conditions - we wish them a safe and speedy return to Les Sables !

In the real world, congratulations to Charlie Dalin for line honours and Yannick Bestaven for winning, and indeed all of the competitors for their amazing achievement of sailing non-stop, solo around the World. It's hard enough doing it virtually! It was a real shame to see Boris Herrmann's unfortunate collision with a fishing boat so close to the finish when he was in with a shout. Yacht racing can be so frustrating and anything can happen right up to the finish line.

Competitors are starting to arrive back in Les Sables d'Olonne but unfortunately there are no big welcoming parties due to Covid. However, I will be organising a prize-giving at St. Helier Yacht Club as soon as social gatherings are allowed and Guillaume and Anthony can travel here from France. TeamJersey's skipper Guilain is from Brittany, but lives in Jersey and will no doubt be head-hunted as a tactician for Offshore races 😁🥇

Sorry ... bit busy at work to do a proper update today but here are the top positions. The 123 podium is draped in French, Breton and Norman flags, finishing a long way ahead us Beans, but lots of boats still competing hard for that 5th place. We had a brief scare midweek with a Ginger Tosser in 5th with an Eastern strategy but Neil has rectified the situation! Will do a proper update on Monday.

Congratulations to TeamJersey - first boat home for Jersey Conquers the World in just over 71 days of sleepless action 🏆🥇 25,427th out of over 1 million sofa sailors and without foils! Prize giving will be at St. Helier Yacht Club when it opens again, with Guilain being signed in as an honourable guest (or a visiting sofa yachtsman). Reporting will continue on Friday with Ginger Tosser now claiming 5th I see !!! Keep it up if you can 😁
