So I had a visit from the NWC who informed me that I owed over $200,000.00 in water consumption, so they locked of the meter, so I have had no water since February 17.2024.I visited their office to get more information about this outrageous amount owed..(about 3 years of consumption) The person I saw after waiting for 2 hours, informed me that I had a water leak since November 2023. I was in utter shock that they knew about this leak and they never made an effort to contact me..So I asked the customer service representative why didn't the monthly meter reader person contact me or leave a note at the guard house about the leakage over the 3 month period!.
She said it was not their job to informed the customer. I later learned that all NWC meters have leak detection feature for notification..So I asked her why didn't they use the same system that is used to lock off the water to contact me earlier so that I could have taken appropriate action to fix the leakage and reduce the cost of water wastage over the 3 months.
She said that was not their job to do so. So I now owe the NWC over $300,000.00 and water will not be restored until $260,000 is paid. I have since written to them.They say I will hear from them by the end of May 2024...I have no water! Water is LIIFE
