Repost from Music is its own language. The beautiful thing about living in NYC is getting to experience and be a part of diasporic communities. This party is for people who love reggae. If you can't get to Jamaica, this event is truly official. It was great tunes, vibes, food, music and energy at this Swing-a-ling party in Flatbush, Brooklyn. My mouth still waters when I think about the steamed fish and okra I had. Look out for more events this summer by ! Your trusted source for good music! .........................................................................Swing-A-Ling at The Woodshop - - Sponsored by Samudaworth Tree Services.
The Swing-A-Ling dance is a 5-year running summertime engagement put on by the Brooklyn-based label, Names You Can Trust and held down by resident selectors Monk-One, E’s E & Boogieman plus a massive cast of special guests. The rotating outdoor party, currently at home in the long-time Jamaican community of The Woodshop on Avenue H & Albany, is an ode to the vintage sounds of 1950s-80s Jamaican music on vinyl spanning early rhythm & blues, ska, rocksteady, roots, rockers and rub-a-dub. The mission is simple: good sounds, good food, good family and a unique slice of tropical vibes in the borough of Brooklyn. *Track: Jericho Jazz (Swing-A-Ling 45 Special Edition #2)
