POV: spending a slow morning at a 700-year-old ryokan in Arima Onsen ♨️
6:30 wake-up, mountain views, private open-air bath, a quiet moment in the room, skincare, breakfast buffet, and one very important detail: the massage chair in the room.
Hyoe Koyokaku is one of those classic Japanese ryokan stays where everything feels spacious and peaceful - from the guest room to the baths. They have multiple public baths, plus a private open-air bath, so you can really make the whole stay about relaxing.
Also, the breakfast and dinner was buffet-style, which I love because you can choose exactly what you feel like eating in the morning.

Long-awaited intro! 👋

Ippodo is one of Kyoto’s oldest tea brands and their Tokyo cafe in Aoyama is already one of my favorite spots in the city. Really good atmosphere, wide tea selection and all of them come paired with traditional Japanese sweets.

I keep coming back whenever I’m in the Omotesando area — it’s the perfect place to slow down for a bit. Also pairs really well with a visit to Nezu Museum since they’re just a short walk apart.

If there’s one meal I always tell people to try in Japan, it’s omakase sushi - it’s absolutely my favorite food experience here. Sushi Inase just opened a new location in Shinjuku, and with over 18 dishes that go beyond just sushi, it’s a great place to start. You can book this experience through

If you love ceramics, add Maison Toji to your Tokyo list.
New and vintage pieces, all hand-picked by the owner — teaware, hashioki, tableware in styles that are genuinely hard to find elsewhere. I first visited their pop-up last year and have been waiting for their store ever since.
📍 Musashikoyama — 15 min from Shibuya, great food and shopping street nearby.

This was my first time trying to fillet mackerel, and it also completely changed how I feel about it.
I’ve never really been a mackerel person. I always thought the flavor was a little too strong, but this meal proved me wrong. The course is entirely focused on locally caught mackerel, prepared in different ways (I especially loved the saba zushi!) and served with so much care. Iwasei has been working with mackerel for over 200 years, and you can really taste that experience in every course.
Found this through byFood - perfect if you love discovering food experiences beyond the usual spots🤍
This is the experience I got to try this time: https://www.byfood.com/experiences/shizuoka-mackerel-sushi-course-45694
