Why I became a personal stylist
As early as I can remember, my favorite part of the day was planning my outfit.
I was shy when I was younger and clothes were a way I could show people who I was, without having to tell them.
But there was another force in my life that stopped me from fully embracing my hard-wiring for fashion. I loved school. And I was good at it. I thought that clothes were something to be earned with academic, and eventual, professional success.
Before I learned about the industry and how many disciplines it crossed — I believed my clothes were merely a complement to my life, not the main show.
So I put fashion on the back burner while I pursued a career in media. But continued to devour fashion content and eventually started creating my own when I came to my damn senses.
Some of you know me from my blog The Peahen, where I wrote about sustainable fashion for 10 years. To put that journey into words is for another time. But while I was writing and educating, people kept asking me for help with their wardrobes. They needed more than blogs and guides; they needed an actual human.
So in 2020, I started building a sustainable wardrobe styling studio, knowing I would take clients when Covid passed.
I designed services like Conscious Closet Cleanouts, Local Style Tours, Personal Secondhand Shopping, and more. Since then, I’ve consciously expanded and am I’m working with clients virtually and in Austin.
✨Oh, and I rebranded The Peahen to Peahen Studio, to showcase the blog alongside my styling services.✨
I’m grateful for this evolution and that I’m in role that blends my expertise with creativity…one where I get to plan help you plan outfits for a living!
Running a small biz isn’t easy, but it’s worth it when you realize that unconventional thing you dreamed about as a kid actually became your career.
As I continue to grow the Studio, I would be honored to come into your closet. Message me if I can help ❤️🙏🏻
