Opportunity-based influence is not something alot of people tend to sustain for long especially in the Kenyan social scene but for Khalif Kairo, he jumped on the wagon and rode a mile.
When Kairo was cast out by his business partners off a brand he had built over time, the story went viral in 2022 and took the chance to introduce his new venture. Combined with great product description skills and a pedestal on the socials streets, he bagged some respect in the automotive sales side of the economy. His business, Kai & Karo stood out with witty messaging and their social media copywriters' "wokeness" that blended item-on-sale with what's trending and what's locally relatable. Not to mention a dynamic website that allows independent sellers to sell and buyers to filter their preference.
It all came through something in Advertising we term as "putting a face to the brand". The 'face' of a brand is the visual, 'human' element given to the public and there are several benefits to having one (especially if it's the owner). Building trust: When people see a real person behind a brand, they are more likely to trust that brand.
Unfortunately, this strategy comes with its own underlying consequences that stay shelved waiting for one scandal to happen, whether related to the business or not. With this demerit on play, it becomes almost impossible to sieve your personal life without some sediments falling inside your business.
Now see:
Kairo's business challenges are now being linked to his choice of women.
Kairo's business challenges are now being linked to his travelling spree.
Kairo's business challenges are now being linked to cars he drives.
Kairo's business challenges are now being linked to allegations of not paying for child support.
Kairo's business challenges are now being linked to banter he posts on X.
And so much more.
On the other hand, the girlfriend, Wavinya, who is an international model, who's face is the brand to her own name, would be advised to either stay off the man during his trying times to keep her own brand's sanity. She might not be off the man's life as alleged but she might be laying low to protect her own brand. There is no need to taint both brands at the same time when you have a chance to save one.
When both the personal and the business PR are at risk at the same time, you only save what is hard to lose.
It's wise to learn from other people's experiences and this is one of them.
But how will he cleanse this PR after all this ordeal? Let's engage as we wish this great and hardworking young man the best as he looks to overcome his business challenges.
There's a Kikuyu saying that quote's: Hinya uria umbukagia ndege niguo umiigaga riera-ini: To mean; the thrust that an airplane gathers on the runway during take off is the same thrust that keeps it on air the entire flight.
How does this saying it apply to this issue? Let's engage
