I’m noticing a trend lately where many devs are building rental/property management systems and honestly, the idea makes sense. Transparency, proper records, easier communication, less drama between landlords and tenants. On paper, it solves a lot.
But the reality on the ground? Landlords don’t want to spend. At all. The mindset is still full max profit, minimum investment. Most would rather run things the old-school way even when it’s clearly inefficient.
Deposits? Almost never refunded, even when there’s zero damage. It’s just assumed the money is theirs. Systems that would clearly show inspection records and accountability suddenly become “unnecessary costs.”
Even something simple like Wi-Fi installation instead of letting an ISP deal directly with tenants, some landlords still want to insert themselves and profit from it. Middleman vibes everywhere.
So when devs pitch these systems, the resistance isn’t about tech. It’s about control and money. And now the big question is… sasa hii cost ya system itaongezwa kwa tenants, ama? Because we all know landlords won’t just absorb it out of goodwill.
Curious to hear from devs, landlords, and tenants here.
Do you think rental systems can actually change how things are run, or will tenants always be the ones paying for “efficiency” while landlords keep doing business as usual?
