✈️ Kisumu Soars Higher: Direct Daily Flights to Entebbe Launched 🌍

Kisumu County has taken another bold step towards becoming a regional gateway city following the launch of direct daily flights between Kisumu and Entebbe by Safarilink Aviation.

The inaugural flight ceremony held at Kisumu International Airport marked a major milestone in strengthening regional connectivity across East Africa, opening up new opportunities for tourism, trade, investment and people-to-people exchange between Kenya and Uganda.

The event was graced by key leaders and stakeholders, including Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr. Mathew Ochieng Owili, KAA Board Chairman Hon. Caleb Kositany, Safarilink CEO Mr. Alex Avedi,Assembly speaker Hon.Elisha Oraro,CECM'svJerome Ochieng (infrastructure & Public works),Hon.Farida Salim(Tourism and Trade), senior officials from the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO), and aviation industry partners.

Compassion International is supporting 4953 children from vulnerable households in Kisumu. They have trained caregivers on entrepreneurship skills and the 1st Cohort of 136 graduated on the 25th November 2025. The Department for Trade, Tourism, Co-operatives, Industry and Marketing was ably represented by Rosemary Ochiewo during the graduation ceremony.

The 2nd Cohort will start their training in January 2026.
