Maize is propagated by seeds, the recommended seed rate is 8kg/acre. The best season for planting is june to September for rainfed crops and January to February for irrigated crops
The field is prepared well by plough or digging. Lime or dolomite at 1-3 kg/cent has to be applied, depending on the acidity of the soil. This should be followed by applying organic manure 100kg/cent
Hereafter ridges and furrows are prepared for planting. the seeds are dibbled at one seed per hole at a spacing of 60cm- 23cm.
The basal dose of fertilizer is applied at time of planting
