Kakuzi has broken ground on a 30-acre greenhouse development for blueberry production, following strong results from its pilot orchards.

As of June 2026, blueberry production had reached 42,000 kg, up from 8,400 kg in the same period last year. The venture also recorded a half-year profit of Ksh 13 million, supporting Kakuzi’s strategy to diversify its revenue streams.

The development marks the adoption of blueberries as Kakuzi’s third superfood commercial crop alongside macadamia and avocado.

Kakuzi Plc and the Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Workers Union (KPAWU) have concluded negotiations for the 2026/27 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), providing for a general wage increase for more than 3,500 unionisable employees.

The increase comprises 8% for 2026 and 7% for 2027, effective January 2026.
