🚨 ATTENTION CYBER CAFÉ OPERATORS IN KENYA! 🚨
Big regulatory changes are here. Starting Friday, August 14, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) is enforcing strict new compliance guidelines for all cyber cafés across the country. To curb rising cybercrime, running a cyber business now demands a higher level of accountability.
Here is what you MUST implement immediately to protect your business from closure:
✅ Customer Registration & Logs: You must record full names, ID numbers, assigned computer IDs, and exact login/logout times.
🔒 Data Retention: Keep all customer logs securely for a minimum of three (3) years.🧾 Financial Transparency: Issue an official receipt for every single browsing session.
🛡️ Web Security Filtering: Install and enable software to actively scan web traffic and block illegal websites.
🔎 CA Cooperation: Allow authorized Communications Authority officers full access to your records and equipment during investigations.
⚠️ The Cost of Non-Compliance:Failure to comply carries heavy penalties. Cyber cafés found violating these rules face fines of at least Ksh 500,000 (or 0.2% of annual turnover), immediate suspension of services, or permanent closure by the regulator.
Let’s build a safer digital economy together. Secure today, protect tomorrow!
