Everyone is clamoring about AI replacing designers.

Here is my honest take: it will not, at least not the good ones.

AI can generate a logo in seconds. It can produce more than 40 color palette variations before you finish your Nutri Milk. It can resize, reformat, and adapt assets faster than any human ever could.

But here is what it still cannot do.

It cannot sit in a room with a founder who does not yet know what their brand should feel like and help them figure it out.

Brand design was never really about making things look good. It is about understanding people: what they want to say, what their audience needs to feel, and finding the visual language that connects the two.

That requires curiosity, conversation, and a level of contextual thinking that AI simply does not have yet.

What AI is doing is raising the floor. Anyone can generate something decent now, which means the average has become less valuable.

The apex, however, is still owned by designers who bring strategic thinking, cultural awareness, and real creative judgment to the table.

The designers who should be worried are the ones who were only ever executing, not thinking.

For everyone else, this is actually an opportunity. Use the tools. Move faster. Show up with more options and more prepared.
