We are thrilled to announce that Kenfield Griffith, CEO & Co-founder of Tappi, has been invited to speak at the renowned Oxford Africa Business Forum on March 14th-15th, 2025! 🎤 The event will take place at the iconic Nelson Mandela Lecture Theatre, a space that holds deep historical significance. The theme this year, 'Africa’s Growth Trajectory: Globalization vs. Domestic Collaboration,' will explore the key decisions shaping Africa's economic future. Kenfield is excited to share insights from his experience of building tech companies in Africa, alongside industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and scholars, all coming together to address Africa’s most critical economic challenges. The 5th edition of tappi's Respect the Hustle was a tremendous success, having on stage respected founders Teresiah Wairimu and Miriam Awino of Clean Max Laundry Services and Promo Hub respectively who sparked meaningful conversations with their stories, ideas and strategies that created businesses that matter, making it a truly unforgettable experience. We also featured the inspiring Ella Peinovich as a venture-backed entrepreneur at the intersection of art, technology, and global trade, Ella shared her remarkable journey, from co-founding SOKO, an ethical fashion brand, to launching Powered by People, a B2B SaaS platform empowering small businesses globally. The attendees were captivated by her insights on building businesses that not only thrive but make a positive impact, leaving the audience energized and motivated. Many expressed how Ella’s approach to ethical commerce and sustainable growth resonated deeply with their own entrepreneurial aspirations.

🚀 Ella Peinovich is a venture-backed entrepreneur at the intersection of art, technology, and global trade. With an MIT Master’s in Architecture, she has spent over a decade pioneering ethical supply chains and tech-driven solutions for small businesses worldwide.
After MIT, she moved to Nairobi and co-founded SOKO, an ethical fashion brand revolutionizing artisan manufacturing. As CEO, she built a decentralized production model that gave independent artisans—especially women—direct access to global markets. Under her leadership, SOKO secured $8M+ in investment, partnered with Nordstrom, Reformation, and Anthropologie, and was recognized by MIT’s Inclusive Innovation Challenge. The company was later acquired by Essence Ventures, expanding its impact further.
Building on SOKO’s success, Ella founded Powered by People (PBP) in 2019—a B2B SaaS platform that connects small and midsize makers to major global retailers like West Elm, Crate & Barrel, and Sur La Table. As CEO, she continues to drive ethical commerce at scale, ensuring diverse, sustainable products reach international markets.
An Ashoka Fellow and recipient of the TIAW 'World of Difference' Award, Ella was a guest lecturer at INSEAD, and has offered her time at Retail World, and the East Africa Retail Summit. Through SOKO, PBP, and beyond, she’s reshaping global trade—one artisan at a time.

At our 4th Edition of Respect the Hustle. It was such a privilege chatting with Wangui Ndegwa and Cris Njoki about their incredible journeys building their Iconic Brands, Cafe AMKA and IKOJN respectively and Esther Masese Waititu about her journey from counting paper notes to leading the engine behind counting over $60 Billion USD of digital transactions on M-PESA; with the vision of becoming the wealth partner for over 35 million who use M-PESA in Kenya and over 66 million globally.

Such a great evening with a great guests and a curious audience leaning in to learn more. Here are a few pointers:
- There’s no shortcut to hard work
- Don’t get caught up in the process; that will change, however stay true to the mission
- Resilience - "this too shall pass"
- Have the courage to reach out, you never know ... and finally,
- Relationships are important to build the continent
