Innovating for Humanity -
Last week, we embarked on an exciting journey with the Kenya Red Cross Society to shape the future of humanitarian innovation.

In the workshop we guided the staff in co-creating a long-term innovation strategy that will guide the Red Cross movement. Together, we identified innovative solutions to pressing humanitarian challenges, conducting a comprehensive SWOT analysis, developing actionable roadmaps, and building a robust resource mobilization strategy.

By working together, we’re empowering the Red Cross to embrace innovation and make a lasting impact on communities around the world.

🌍✨ Thrilled to share that in October, Nzisa represented Circle Innovation at the Evolving Design for Collective Good roundtable, diving into Kenya’s innovation landscape and exploring pathways to resilient, impact-driven solutions! Together with leading innovators, she contributed to deep discussions on how design can meet the urgent shifts in climate, technology, and demography, all while centering on local needs and capacity.
The roundtable highlighted key insights on ensuring data accuracy, ethical practices, and restoring trust in local potential and public sector solutions. This event also marked the launch of The Collectives of Action (CoA), a platform to continue our journey towards scalable, life-centered solutions for Kenya’s most pressing challenges.

We are excited to share the remarkable progress the African Wildlife Foundation Charles R. Wall fellows have made on their conservation innovation journey!

Over the past few months they have dived deep into System Exploration, Empathy & Design Research, Synthesis & Ideation. Through these modules they have been able to gain invaluble skills such as understanding complex systems to conducting meaningful research with local communities and translating insights into actionable solutions.

In addition to the monthly innovation Fridays, the fellows have been receiving personalized coaching and guidance to refine their innovation projects.

We’re thrilled to see how far they’ve come and can’t wait to witness the incredible innovations that lie ahead! Stay tuned for more updates as the fellows continue to tackle conservation challenges with passion and creativity.

On Tuesday, Sept 17, we had an exciting session with Ukwenza VR, an EdTech company revolutionizing learning through Virtual Reality. We had the privilege of seeing their students dive into the world of Biology, fully immersed with VR headsets. It was incredible to witness how technology is making education more engaging and fun for learners, and even offering businesses a powerful storytelling tool. 🚀🔬

🌟 Exciting news! Earlier this month, Circle Innovation facilitated a convening workshop organised by TomorrowNow.org. The aim of the 2-day event was to bring together key stakeholders in the weather and climate sector. 🌦️🌍 This technical workshop kicked off OSIRIS II, a Gates Foundation-funded project led by TomorrowNow.org.
Participants represented the following organisations: Tomorrow.io, FarmStar / Regen Organics, Salient, Regrow, CGIAR, CABI, Kartoza, TAHMO, KALRO - KAOP, Kenya Meteorological Department, Arable, Rhiza Research and Predictia, among others.
Stakeholders and project partners brainstormed ideas to accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge weather & climate data services. Excited for the journey ahead! 🚀

As part of the esteemed UN World Food Programme IGNITE SEED Innovation Programme East Africa, led by the World Food Programme IGNITE Innovation Hub for Eastern Africa, CARE, DTU Skylab - Technical University of Denmark, and our very own Circle Innovation, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, we’re excited to spotlight Rhea Agripad from Kenya!
Rhea Agripad, led by the innovative team members Soinato Leboo and Priscilla W., offers a groundbreaking solution for onsite soil testing and real-time delivery of results and recommendations. By building an onsite IoT-powered sensor device, they analyze basic soil nutrients and generate recommendations using machine learning software. This cutting-edge technology aims to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability by providing accurate and timely soil health information to farmers.

Working with students from the and in conjunction with the to design and come up viable solutions of preserving and ensuring good use of our available fresh water.

As a partner we will showcase our activities and how we use water in our production process. The students are then tasked with the job of coming up with several ways in which we can and the water we use.

Water is essential for all life on Earth. It sustains us, nourishes us, and forms the basis of our existence. Yet, water is a finite resource that is facing increasing threats from pollution, overuse, and climate change. It is crucial that we prioritize the conservation and preservation of water for future generations.

Last week, we at Circle Innovation had the privilege of facilitating an Innovation and Systems Thinking workshop for Charles R. Wall Conservation Leadership and Management Fellowship at the . This fellowship is dedicated to equipping today’s leaders with the transformational leadership and management skills needed to drive Africa closer to its shared conservation goals.
During the workshop, the fellows:
🔍 Explored the power of systems thinking in crafting innovative solutions for conservation challenges.
🛠 Discovered practical tools to apply systems thinking in their respective fields.
🗺 Learned how to create effective systems thinking diagrams.
🚀 Developed actionable plans for their innovation projects.
