CHAPTER ONE EPISODE 1
(Benta's mother comes to the sitting room and finds Benta sitted on the sofa using her phone)
Mrs Pauline:Benta,I'm going out please take care of the house and make sure that you cook something for your father and Hannah when they come back in the evening.
Benta:He's not my father.
Mrs Pauline:Please don't start.He has provided for us for three years.
Benta:And did I ask him to do that...(standing up)mum he has been pretending all this while...He had promised you that he would open up a business for you,has he done that?
Mrs Pauline:He will do that it's just that there's a lot on his hands,his business has not been progressive.
Benta:it's ok mom...I'll prepare something for them I don't like them but I won't starve them
Mrs Pauline:That's my girl...let me be going I don't want to be late...Bye baby
(Benta's mother leaves and Benta goes to her room to take a nap...As she lays on the bed her phone rings and it's her best friend calling)
Alice:Hi babe!
Benta:Hi
Alice:Are you at home?
Benta:yah...I want to take a nap.
Alice:I wanted to borrow you that red dress your dad bought for you during your birthday last year.
Benta:ok come for it.
Alice:ok I'll be there in a few...And are you going to the Caleb's party?
Benta:yah
Alice:Yeeeeeeh! I knew your dad would let you go.
Benta:He didn't...I don't need his permission to go anywhere.
Alice:Ok as you say madam... I'm on my way coming there.
(She hangs up and sleeps... After sleeping for a while she's woken up by the doorbell and she lazily walks to the door and opens it)
Alice:Hi sleepyhead (she enters and sits down on the sofa)so where's your mum?
Benta:She has gone out...what time is it?
Alice:it's 4:30pm,Why?
Benta:ooooh shoot!I have to cook... You'll help me(she grabs her to the kitchen and they prepare rice and beef stew...After cooking they go to Benta's room)So where did I put that dress?...Oooh here it is.
Alice:I can't believe you refused to wear this dress.It's so pretty.
Benta:Go try it on.(She tries the dress on)it really looks good on you.(they pack the dress and Alice leaves)
Later that evening Hannah and Mr Lawrence arrives home and they eat and afterwards each goes to their own rooms to freshen up.Benta prepares herself for the party and when she's about to leave Mr Lawrence stops her.
Mr Lawrence:And where are you going to?
Benta: I'm going to a friend's party.
Mr Lawrence:And why I'm I hearing this now?Why did you not tell me about this?
Benta:I told mum🙄
Mr Lawrence:So you vowed that you'll never tell me anything you are planning to do?
Benta:And why should I tell you anything?I'm going and I'll sleep over at Alice's.(she says and heads out)
Mr Lawrence:You are not going anywhere.
Benta:And who are you to stop me?(Mrs Pauline walks in and looks at them confused)
Mrs Pauline:And what's going on here?
Benta:Ask your husband here.
Mr Lawrence:Did you know that she is going to a party?
Mrs Pauline:Yes I know.
Mr Lawrence:And you allowed her to go?You don't see anything wrong if she goes?And you never told me about this?Who I'm I in this house then?It's clear you don't see me as the head of this family.
Mrs Pauline:Look let her go and enjoy her youth and also she's a big responsible young lady,she can take care of herself.
Mr Lawrence:She's not going anywhere and that's my final decision.
(Benta looked at his eyes with teary eyes and laughed)
Benta:Give me one reason to why I should I respect your decision?
Mr Lawrence:Because this is my house and I'm the head of this family...So you should respect me coz I'm the father here.
Benta:Sorry did you say father?...If I may ask,whose father are you?Coz as long as I remember my dad is dead.
Mrs Pauline:Benta!Go to your room right now.
Benta:No mum,let me say what's in my heart...I hate you,I really hate you 😏no,no,no I dispise you... you disgust me and you think that I'll love you the way I loved my dad you are very wrong sir coz you will never,read my lips... NEVER EVER be my dad and you will watch me go to that party and you will not stop me.
(Her mother tries stopping her not to leave)
Mrs Pauline:Listen to him Benta.
Mr Lawrence:No let her leave but just know if you step your foot outside that door don't bother coming back.
Mrs Pauline:(She begs him)No it hasn't reached there... Please don't this Benta.(Benta leaves despite the warnings)
(She reaches the house party and she meets up with Caleb)
Caleb:You made it...Come sit here,let me get a drink for you.(he goes to the counter and orders two glasses of wine)Here take...Enjoy yourself I'm coming.
She sips her drink and looks around to see if Alice has arrived.
Benta:Where is this girl?(she takes her phone and calls Alice)Where are you?
Alice:I'm at the parking lot.(Benta hangs up and five minutes later Alice walks in)I'm so sorry babe,I had to make sure my brother is asleep...Are you ok?
Benta:Yes why?
Alice:I don't know but you look sad...Are you sure you are ok babe?
Benta:He kicked me out of the house?
Alice:Why?What did you do?
Benta:He didn't want me to come here...He always controls my life just because he married my mum...I don't know what to do or where to go.
Alice:(she hugs Benta)You can come and stay with us...My bro is going
