Grounded Self-Trust Profile™: Join the Pilot
For years, I held myself to an impossibly high bar.
As a corporate executive, I prepared multiple versions of every presentation, researched extensively wherever I felt less than certain, and anticipated questions long before anyone asked them. The results were clear: I was reliable, consistent, someone people wanted on their team, because I delivered. I did what I promised. I showed up.
But that competence came at a cost. There wasn't much room left for ease, spontaneity, or connection beyond what the work required. I didn't linger in casual conversations. I didn't invest much in relationships that weren't tied to output. My focus was singular: perform, deliver, meet the standard. At the time, I called it discipline, a natural extension of the environment I grew up in, where achievement was expected and effort was non-negotiable.
I've since heard some version of this story in dozens of conversations with executives, founders, entrepreneurs, parents, students, who learned early to prove their worth through performance, and who are now asking what it would feel like to trust themselves without having to earn it first. That question is a big part of why I started building the Grounded Self-Trust Profile™.
I'm excited to share that the quantitative testing phase is now live, and I'd love for you to be part of it, whatever you're building, leading, raising, or figuring out right now.
Here's what to expect:
● About 10–15 minutes to complete the assessment
● Your responses are confidential and used only to refine the tool, we are not collecting email addresses.
● No cost, no obligation, just your honest input
If any of this resonates, I'd be grateful if you'd join the pilot and help shape where it goes next.

A few years ago I started asking a question I couldn't shake: why do some of the most capable people I know privately doubt themselves? Why have I felt that way myself?
Not the people who are struggling. The people who are succeeding and still lying awake, wondering if they're really as good as everyone thinks.
I used to think the answer was "build more confidence." I don't think that anymore.
Confidence goes up and down with how things are going. It's real, but it's fragile. What I've been researching instead is something steadier: I call it grounded self-trust. It's less about feeling sure of yourself and more about staying connected to your own values, even when things don't go well.
I'll be sharing more about this over the next couple of weeks. If you've ever felt this way, even once, I'd love to hear about it in the comments.

Achievement can be a shield. Here's what it's protecting you from.
A way to stay ahead. A way to avoid criticism. A way to keep people from questioning your ability.
One idea emerging from the Grounded Self-Trust Profile is that some of us rely on continued achievement to feel secure in our own worth.
The problem: no amount of achievement permanently solves an identity problem.
So grounded self-trust asks a different question, one that's harder, and more useful:
Who are you when you are not achieving?
That might be one of the most important questions we ever answer.

Confidence rises and falls. Something else doesn't.
Most people think the fix for self-doubt is more confidence. I'm not convinced that's true.
Confidence tracks performance, praise, and circumstance. It's real, but it's conditional.
Grounded self-trust works differently. It lets you:
● Learn from mistakes without questioning your worth
● Celebrate others without losing sight of your own progress
● Contribute even when you feel uncertain
● Stay connected to your values when circumstances shift
Maybe the goal isn't to become more confident. Maybe it's to become more grounded.
What helps you trust yourself when things don't go to plan?

"Imposter syndrome" isn't a term everyone identifies with. But most people recognize at least one of these:
● Perfectionism: never quite finished, never quite good enough
● Hesitation: waiting for permission to speak up
● Discounting: "it was really a team effort" (even when it wasn't)
Which one shows up most for you?

The most capable person in the room is often the one who doubts it most.
That's one of the most surprising things I've learned from years of working with professionals, leaders founders and students.
Privately, some of the most competent people I know wrestle with questions like:
● Am I really as capable as people think?
● What if I'm found out?
● Why do I struggle to own my achievements?
Self-doubt isn't a sign of incompetence. It's far more common, and far more complicated, than that.
For the past 5 years I've been exploring these questions through research, coaching and reflection. It led to a framework I now call Grounded Self-Trust: the confidence that comes from accurately interpreting your experiences, anchoring your identity in your values rather than external validation, and acting consistently with who you choose to become.
Over the coming weeks I'll share what I'm learning, along with a first look at an assessment I'm building.
Have you ever doubted yourself despite clear evidence of your capability?
