Hervé NGola Bataringe, popularly known as Ferre Gola, is a force to reckon with when it comes to Rhumba music. The vocalist has a huge fan base in Kenya. Many do not know that Ferre started as a vocalist in one of the most famous Rhumba bands; Werra Son’s Wenge Musica. Although the best Ferre Gola songs are sung in Congolese, Kenyans still enjoy them thoroughly.
Ferre Gola was once a member of Koffi Olomide’s Quartier Latin International band. Since going solo, the vocalist has produced hit after hit making him quite popular across the continent. For the Rhumba lovers, here is a comprehensive Ferre Gola songs list that will come in handy on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

1. Ka*****ra
This song is part of Ferre’s Accoustique 1789 album. Ka*****ra lyrics translation reveals a man desperate for answers, with the vocalist wondering whether the woman he loves was chosen for him by God. This vocalist has invested in matters of love.

2.100 Kilos

Another hit from the Rhumba artist, is a song about the tribulations in a relationship. “Na buki 100 Kilos ya ba fleurs na maboko ma nga moko”. Ferre sings about an unfaithful spouse who breaks his heart, saying he has carried 100 kilos of flowers in his hands to make her happy.

3. Pakadjuma

“I have looked for you everywhere; how do I reach you?” Once again, a ballad about lost love and the heartache it can cause. Pakadjuma might be an old one, but remains one of the best from this talented musician.

4. Litaka

This is another ballad from the album Boîte noire (Jésus de Nuances), volume one. The sensual couples’ dance in the video is enough to capture the essence of Lingala

5. Vita Imana

Ferre sung this song while he was still a part of Wenga Musica Maison Mere, Vita Imana lyrics in English mention some Rhumba icons as part of the love story narrated. Vita Imana remix is equally as good and remains one of his top hits.

6. Panzi Likolo
This track displayed the true meaning of Jesus De Nuance – Ferre’s nickname. The lyrics are heavy with hidden meaning. The piano at the beginning of the song gives it a nice touch making the song more entertaining.

7. Chichiwash Chichiwash

is one of the 12 tracks in his Boîte noire (Jésus de Nuances), volume one album. The song’s slow tempo and chorus are the epitome of Lingala music.

8. Jugement
The message of this song is that whenever close friends accuse your spouse of cheating/wrong doing, most people tend to believe their friends whom they have known for a long time. In such cases, most people pass judgment on their spouse and think that he or she is guilty of whatever he is being accused of.

9. Mea Culpa Mea Culpa

has also been a fan favorite since it has a fantastic melody and chorus. Ferre acknowledges Rhumba legend, Papa Wemba by including a part from one of the latter’s classics.

10. Pourquoi tu m'as fait ça

The Rhumba star has released one new hit this year. The song, titled Pourquoi tu m'as fait ça? which is French for “Why did you do this to me?”, was released in February. He sings about a relationship that has a lot of disappointment and infidelity. This video was shot in France and it is among the latest Ferre Gola songs 2019

11. Première Classe
The vocalist produced one single, Première Classe, in 2018. The song has a beautiful video featuring easy moves that can be replicated by all fans, even those with two left feet. This is one of Ferre Gola new song in 2018.

12. Court Circuit
This is one of the most popular Ferre Gola QQJD Vol 2 song, thanks to the superb vocals displayed in it

13. Ma Meilleure Chemise
This track retains Ferre’s familiar style and rhythm. It is very entertaining to anybody that loves Rhumba.

14. Poison D’avril Poisson D’avril is one of the favorites from the third album, with a slow tempo that is common in most of Ferre’s ballads. It is well composed and the beat will make anyone dance.

15. Fautif
This song was released in 2017. The lyrics are well flowing and the vocals from Ferra makes it more soothing and entertaining.

✔ Born Jean de Dieu Makiese on 28th May 1952.

Pépé Kallé , sometimes written as Pepe Kalle (November 30, 1951 – November 29, 1998) was a soukous singer, musician and bandleader from the Democratic Republic of the Congo .
Biography
Pépé Kallé was born Kabasele Yampanya in
Kinshasa (then Léopoldville) in the Belgian Congo , but later assumed his pseudonym in hommage to his mentor, Le Grand Kallé.
With a multi- octave vocal range and a dynamic stage presence, the 190 cm (6 ft 3 in) and 136 kg (300 lb) vocalist recorded more than three hundred songs and twenty albums [ citation needed ] during his two-decade-long career. Known affectionately as "the elephant of African music" and "La Bombe Atomique," [ citation needed ] Kallé entertained audiences with his robust performances. The guitarist was Solomon.
Musical career
His musical career started with l'African Jazz, the band of Le Grand Kallé. He later performed in Bella Bella and became the lead singer of Lipua Lipua, where he sang alongside Nyboma Mwandido . In 1972, Kallé along with Dilu Dilumona and Papy Tex , left Lipua Lipua to form their own band named
Empire Bakuba . Empire Bakuba took its name from a Congolese warrior tribe, and it pointedly incorporated rootsy rhythms from the interior, sounds that had long been sidelined by popular rumba. The band was an instant hit, and together with Zaiko Langa Langa they became Kinshasa's most popular youth band. With hits such as Pépé Kallé's
Dadou and Papy Tex's Sango ya mawa , the band was a constant fixture on the charts. They also created a new dance, the kwassa kwassa.
On their tenth anniversary in 1982, the band was voted Zaire's top group. Throughout the early 1980s, Empire Bakuba continued to tour extensively while releasing no less than four albums a year. By the mid eighties, they had a large following throughout Francophone Central and West Africa. His 1986 collaboration with Nyboma labelled Zouke zouke was one of the years top selling albums .[ citation needed ] But it was his second collaboration with Nyboma, Moyibi (1988), which launched his popularity throughout Africa. In the song Moyibi, there's a part at the end that says Bakule, bakule . The bakule part is taken from a Rock-a-Mambo song named Bakoule (Bidama), written by Honore Liengo in 1961.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Kallé fused elements of the fast-paced version of
soukous produced in Paris studios. His 1990 album, Roger milla – a tribute to the exploits of the great Camerounian Football player, is a classic example of this arrangement.
Pépé Kallé later introduced some dancers with growth disabilities like Jolie Bebe, Dominic Mabwa and Ayilla Emoro in to his band. In 1992 the band faced its first major calamity when Emoro, the band's dancing dwarf, died while on tour in Botswana. Despite this setback, Pépé Kallé's popularity continued to soar in the nineties as he released albums like Gigantafrique , Larger than life and Cocktail. [2] He also collaborated with other legends like Lutumba Simaro and
Nyoka Longo.
Death
On November 28, 1998, Pépé Kallé suffered a heart attack at his home in Kinshasa and was rushed to the nearby Clinique Ngaliema . Shortly after midnight on Sunday November 29, Pépé Kallé was pronounced dead. The cause of his death was officially reported to be a heart attack. After his death, Juliana Lumumba who was the minister for culture and arts announced that the government would hold a funeral for the fallen hero on December 6. Further she requested that all music performances be halted for his honour. [3] Upon his death Kallé received praises from government ministers and the common people as well. His body lay at several locations throughout the city where he lived and worked. More than one million people were reported to have paid their final respects at his funeral at the Palais du Peuple and along the funeral procession's route. Pépé Kallé was LATER buried on December 6 at Gombe Cemetery in a grandiose state funeral. He is now one of the growing pantheon of Congolese music stars who died much too young. He is survived by his five children. His wife died recently in 2019. People described him as a very talented musician and a band leader. Others described him as a patriot who loved his country even when times were tough. "Despite bleak conditions in Zaïre/Congo during Mobutu's last years and under the faltering regime of Laurent Kabila, Pépé Kallé continued to reside in Kinshasa, refusing to join the mass movement of the music stars to Europe. He was the only musician who never had a problem with anybody. he was the man who could reconcile two musical generations." said Tabu Ley. [4] Veteran Congolese journalist Achille Ngoie, who covered Empire Bakuba from its inception, remembered Kallé as a man of the people. "Kallé could be on stage in the middle of a song and, seeing a person in the audience he hadn't seen for years, he could work a greeting to that person into the song. "He was an extraordinary person with an elephantine memo
