FAQ: How can I get customers online on a low advertising budget?

Answer/Solution: First of all, you need to fully understand your target audience/market in terms of demographic characteristics such as location, age, gender, occupation/job title, and psychographic characteristics such as interests and behaviors.

Secondly, using the demographic and psychographic characteristics above, determine the platforms that your target audience tends to use often.

Additionally, You'll find more information on the audiences using the Audience Insights feature built within these platforms.

If your target audience tends to go on Google first to search for the product(s) that your business sells, Google is a viable option. The key is to ensure that you keep your consumer at the top of your mind during this process.

Your next step is to pick the one platform that your target audience spends the MOST time on or visits to get information related to your product(s) based on the information that you've gathered so far.

Remember, you have a small budget so you don't want to spread yourself too thin.

Focus on that one platform. Determine your business objective and choose a campaign objective that's aligned with your business objective.

Clearly, this is an oversimplified guide but hopefully, it will give you an idea of how you can effectively use the X amount that you have to generate a multiple of X in return.

This is a common problem that many solopreneurs and amateur digital marketers face.

The truth is, boosting a post falls into a campaign objective within Facebook called Brand Awareness. This campaign objective, however, is meant to get people who will remember seeing your ad, not sales.

Facebook has 10 other campaign objectives e.g. traffic, lead generation, conversions, etc. Unfortunately, people who only boost posts only use one campaign objective: Brand Awareness, as I have already stated.

The way to achieve success with Facebook ads is to align your ads with your business objectives. If your business objective is to sell the items in your catalog, for example, use the catalog sales campaign objective.

Retention marketing involves strategies aimed at reselling, cross-selling and up-selling to existing customers.
