The woman ( Maureen) standing beside Karuga Muraya has a history that even Karuga himself can't understand and might never understand.
That's why we tell people that the past matters.
Remember the Nanyuki woman with over 15 Facebook boyfriends that she was sleeping with despite being a church woman and a PCEA member of the women's guild? Same energy, camouflage and red flags all over her face.
When you see a photo of a man and a woman standing side by side, smiling, your brain wants to write a love story. But her past digital footprint? That writes a case file.
Let's talk about the number. 01155000**.
In 2024, that number was doing the rounds in Ruai; specifically Njiru, Mihango, and along the Eastern Bypass. The posts were direct, unpolished and brutally honest in their desperation.
One read: "Extra at ruai bypass call 01155000** at 350."
Another, just months earlier: "Natafuta kazi ya kufua nina mtoto mdogo piga hii number 01155000** niko ruai."
Three hundred and fifty shillings. That was the price of her strait of Hormuz. You could afford the "extra," plus clean house she'd wash your clothes and empty your balls.
Now scroll forward to 2026. That exact same number (01155000**) resurfaces. Only this time, the tone is holy. The profile is polished. The request is for prayer and support.
"Nan anataka bibi na vile hii mali imeiva 😂😂😂 msisahau niko na launching mwezi wa nane ruai ....for prayer and support 115 5000**."
A gospel album launch. A call for Ksh. 115,500 bob.
Do the math with me.
In 2024, her time cost 350. In 2026, her testimony costs Ksh. 115,500. The number never changed. The area never changed. The only variable is the costume; she traded the mop for a microphone and the "extra" for an altar call.
Now, look at the photo of her standing next to Karuga Muraya.
Karuga, who buried his twin brother not long ago, Kagema Muraya. Karuga, who carries the weight of that loss in every public appearance. Karuga, whose family name is now attached to a woman whose digital CV reads like a Ruai backstreet classified.
Here is where I refuse to give you a conclusion. I am not here to shame her. Survival is ugly, people can do anything to put food on the table.
A woman charging Ksh 350 for extras ( paid s3x + house cleaning ) to feed her child is not my enemy.
But I will ask you the question that has no comfortable answer:
Does Karuga know? Do all the Akurino men posing with her know?
Does the man grieving his twin brother know that the hand he stands beside once typed "Extra at Ruai bypass" while her other hand held a child she was trying to feed?
Does he know that the same phone that now posts "Gospel Launch" once pinged the Eastern Bypass for 350-bob transactions?
Or and this is the chilling alternative; does he know, and simply not care?
Because here is the thing about our culture. We love to dig up the woman's past. We love to circulate screenshots and laugh at her audacity to wear a church robe.
But we rarely ask: Who invited her into that robe?
We rarely ask: Who is posting the photos? Who is introducing her to the family of a deceased twin brother?
Who is standing next to her, smiling, while the entire Eastern Bypass corridor knows exactly what that number used to mean?
The men in her photo album are not victims. They are accessories. They are the ones who validated her transition from Ksh 350 to Ksh 115,500. They are the ones who made her believe that if she scrubbed her Facebook timeline clean enough, no one would remember the mop bucket. Her ugly past.
But we remember.
Not because we hate her. But because the past is not a suggestion; it is a deposit. And deposits don't disappear just because you change your display picture.
So I will leave this right here.
I am not telling you to boycott her launch. I am not telling you to shame her in the comments.
I am simply placing the 2024 screenshot next to the 2026 screenshot, placing Karuga's face next to her smile, and stepping back.
Let the silence do the rest.
Let your own conscience sit with the math: 350 bob vs. 115,500 bob.
Let your own bias decide if a fresh start is truly fresh when the phone number hasn't changed.
And if you're Karuga Muraya reading this or anyone standing next to her; ask yourself one question before you post that next photo:
If the person next to you has a past they won't tell you about, are you really standing together? Or are you just standing in the way of the truth?
Disclaimer: That number 01155000** is still active. If you're in Ruai this August and you see a gospel banner with those digits, just remember: the same fingers that typed "Extra" are now typing "Hallelujah." The question isn't whether God forgives. The question is whether the men beside her are willing to ask the right questions before they hit "post."
