A product can be copied. A feeling can’t.

Somewhere along the way, buying stopped being about what works and became about what fits. Not just your needs, but your identity. Your world. The version of you you’re quietly stepping into.

The brands that stay with us understand this. They don’t just present an offering. They build a language. A mood. A sense of belonging you can see yourself in.

And they’re rarely loud about it.

That’s what separates presence from noise. Not just being seen, but being recognised, remembered, returned to.

Because today, it’s no longer “is this good?”
It’s “is this me?”

And when the answer is yes, the decision is already made.

If your brand is ready to hold that kind of presence, LLK is where it begins.

From our very first issue, Luxury Life Kenya has proudly featured a dedicated series on Mohamed Amin – a man whose lens helped define how Africa, and Kenya in particular, has been seen by the world.

Born in Nairobi in 1943, Mohamed Amin began his journey with a humble second-hand Box Brownie camera. What followed was an extraordinary career spanning over three decades, during which he became one of the most influential photojournalists of his time. Known for his fearless frontline reporting, he covered major events across Africa, often at great personal risk – even surviving severe injuries, including the loss of his arm.

Amin’s work reached global audiences, most notably through his powerful coverage of the 1984 Ethiopian famine, which moved the world to action and contributed to humanitarian efforts such as Band Aid and Live Aid. His commitment to truth and storytelling earned him international respect, as he documented not only conflict but also the richness of African life – its people, cultures, landscapes, and wildlife. Over his career, he published more than 75 books, preserving the beauty and complexity of the continent.

For us at LLK, this legacy is deeply meaningful. Through the People of Kenya series – first introduced in our debut issue – we honour the historical and cultural narratives that shape our identity. Thanks to Mohamed Amin, these stories have been captured with honesty, depth and humanity, allowing us to preserve and celebrate the traditions and heritage of our country for generations to come 🇰🇪

Have you ever wondered who shapes the visual world of LLK? Meet Sonia 👩🏽‍🎨

A multi-talented artist, born and raised in Kenya, whose journey took her across the world to study Visual Communication in the U.S, before returning home. She approaches life like a canvas — always with a sketchbook and pen in hand, capturing moments of beauty as they unfold.

Also the most sporty in our team, you’ll likely find her jogging around Nairobi, unless she’s deep in designing our next issue.

The Easter weekend is here – soft, unhurried and best spent well.

This list is a gentle family edit, shaped around simple, thoughtful ways to spend the days, the kind you linger in, rather than rush through.

Whether you’re staying close or stepping away for a moment, consider this your little guide to doing Easter, simply and beautifully.

A small edit from us, for the weekend 🤍

For a long time, PR was easy to read. You saw it, you acknowledged it and it slipped away. A moment, not a memory.

And for a while, that was enough. But the landscape has shifted.

Within it, something else has emerged. The kind that makes you pause, even briefly. The kind that changes how you see a brand, without announcing it.

There’s a quiet precision to it. Where placement, context and timing come together and suddenly, the brand feels different.

That’s the shift.

Not everything needs to travel far. It just needs to land where it matters. Because in a world of constant visibility, what matters is what lingers.

If your brand is ready to linger, LLK is where it begins 🖤

We’ve seen a quiet shift in Nairobi style — a move away from excess, towards intention.

Fashion, at its most profound, is a dialogue between the body and its environment.

Beyond trends — towards structure, intention, and pieces that endure. A recalibration of the Nairobi silhouette.

The foundations:
• Architecture —
• Structure — .madebyafrica
• Sensory —
• Tactile — .ke
• Nomad —

Build with intention.

We’ve long admired the work of Phoebe Ouma – making this feature a particularly special one for us. Our Editor-in-Chief, Valeria, who has followed Phoebe’s work for years, sat down with her to explore the story behind her art.

How does one begin working in this medium? Where does the inspiration come from? And what’s next?

In luxury, the real power isn’t in the product…it’s in the brand.
The world’s most enduring houses understand this better than anyone. Think of the likes of Hermès and Burberry or any luxury brands. Their products stand out because their identities are unmistakable.

From marketing to design to the tiniest tactile detail, a strong brand becomes a promise, it tells the world who you are before you even say a word.

In a crowded market, branding is your superpower.
It’s what turns customers into loyalists, moments into memories, and businesses into legacies.

Ready for your brand to take its next step? LLK is where it begins.
