Opening Opportunities: Our Visit to Likii Special School in Nanyuki

On Monday, we visited Likii Special School in Nanyuki, a learning institution dedicated to supporting students with cognitive disabilities. The school provides a structured, supportive environment for its approximately 180 learners, helping them develop essential life, social, and academic skills.

Thanks to Mawingu and Microsoft, reliable internet access has transformed how the school operates and delivers education. For teachers and staff, connectivity has streamlined school operations, improved communication, and reduced costs—eliminating the need for expensive mobile data bundles and off-site trips to cybercafes.

For students, the internet is a game-changer. Using computers, smartphones, and digital content, they engage with videos, visuals, and audio-based learning, which enhances their comprehension and improves learning outcomes.

At Dotsavvy, we’re honoured to tell these stories of digital inclusion and accessibility in education. Stay tuned for more insights from our journey!

Bridging the Digital Divide: Our Visit to Masaku School for the Physically Disabled

Last Friday, after wrapping up video production work at Mawingu’s HQ in Nairobi, we hit the road to Machakos to witness first-hand the transformative power of internet connectivity in special needs education.

At Masaku School for the Physically Disabled, we spent time with the head teacher, teachers, and students, capturing their perspectives on how access to the internet—through the Mawingu Foundation and Microsoft—has transformed their lives.

What stood out was how deeply integrated the internet has become in daily learning and school operations. From enhanced lesson delivery to improved learning outcomes, the impact is undeniable. Learners can now access valuable educational resources, conduct research, and engage with interactive digital content, making their studies more engaging and effective.

This visit reinforced a fundamental truth—digital inclusion is not just about connectivity; it’s about empowerment. It’s about ensuring that every learner, regardless of ability, has access to the tools and opportunities they need to learn, grow, and open opportunities.

At Dotsavvy, we are honoured to document these powerful stories of impact alongside Mawingu and Microsoft, showcasing how technology is reshaping the future of education in Kenya.

Stay tuned as we continue this journey to highlight more incredible stories of digital transformation and accessibility!

On Friday lasy week, we had the privilege of sitting down with Farouk Ramji, CEO of Mawingu, for an exclusive interview as part of an ongoing video production capturing the impact of their Initiatives on accessibility and digital inclusion in Kenya.

From high-speed connectivity in rural schools to game-changing assistive technology, it’s incredible to witness how Mawingu, in partnership with Microsoft, is transforming lives—especially for students in special needs schools.

We also got some behind-the-scenes shots of Mawingu’s stunning offices, showcasing a workspace that reflects their mission to connect the underserved with reliable, affordable internet.
