Weeks of hard work, late nights, and big dreams, and last week it all came together in the most beautiful way. It started with ideas, scripts, cameras, and a whole lot of belief, and last week it became a premiere. 🎬✨
Thank you to every Creative Dreamer and Creative Entrepreneur who showed up and made the room feel alive. Here are a few snippets from the day; but keep an eye on your inbox for the full gallery. See you on the next one.

Sahihi Africa and the U.S. Embassy Nairobi, through American Spaces, believe that when you put the right creatives in the right space with the right support, something extraordinary happens. They also believed that bringing American tools, training, instructors from Kenya, America and the continent; and most importantly, a genuine investment, would turn that conviction into something real. And it did.
Together, we put out the call for submissions. 150+ stories answered. Five made it to StoryLab, and on the 30th of April 2026, StoryLab had its world premiere.
To the five film teams; what you made is bold, specific, and ready for the world.
To the amazing and dedicated instructors , every mentor, guest speaker, and technical partners who poured into this cohort; you didn't teach from a distance. You got in the trenches, held the bar high, and refused to let good enough be good enough. That shows in every frame.

And to the incredible team that made premiere night feel like the moment it deserved to be: the hosts, the DJ, the guests, the tent, the screens, the sound, the lights, the content, the execution… you didn't just provide services. You became part of the story.

Nobody fails alone. Nobody succeeds alone. This is what that Creative Collaboration looks like.

From the first script session to the final cut, it's been a full journey: creativity, hard decisions, and genuine collaboration at every stage. Now we get to celebrate what came out of all of it. Our Premiere is next week and we cannot wait. 🎞️ If you received an invite and it hasn't landed in your inbox, check your SPAM folder. Your seat is waiting.

The part that hardly gets talked about… that moment you watch it back and something in you just says no.
Not almost. Not close. No.
So we went at it again. Refined, reworked, recommitted — and what made it possible? Our community showed up and made it happen.
The do-over hit different. And we can't wait for you to see it.
Eden is loading. 👀

A story finding its voice, one scene at a time.

We showed up, we were stretched on set, we trusted the process.
Now the echoes begin.

“Helter Skelter” Behind the Scenes 😆
Production day was a whole movie (pun intended). The quick pivots, the long days, the little moments of madness… and a team holding it all together.
Now we watch the magic come together in post.

From early prep conversations to long shoot days, Good Citizen has been built piece by piece.

Now in post, we’re shaping the final story, and it’s coming together. The story is almost ready… and we’re holding our breath for the final frame.

Professional overthinkers, preparing to confidently say “Action.” Organised chaos, sharp minds, and just enough uncertainty to make it magic. Ruin Theory is now in post-production and we’re trying (failing) to contain our excitement.

Some worlds are imagined to reveal uncomfortable truths.
Good Citizen follows a small family in a dystopian reality where one decision could cost everything.
Through the Story Lab process, the filmmakers now enter pre-production, where the world of the story begins to take shape.

This past Friday, our Storylabbers pitched the worlds they’ve been building; and the panel they walked into was no joke. 🎬
Christopher Kanyoi -Kenya Airways pilot, die-hard cinemagoer, and the most important person in any creative equation: The Audience. 🎟️
Joy Wachira — MD of Madfun, culture architect, and one of Africa’s most powerful voices in entertainment.
Julian Macharia — Lead Jury. An icon in legacy media, now Managing Partner at Well Made Strategy and board member at Buni Media. Still doing what he’s always done; building things that last and asking the harder questions on behalf of audiences that matter.
They were nervous. We were nervous. It all came together beautifully.
And to close out Development Week, we ended exactly how we should have, in the room with Quan Phung. 20+ years shaping global television. How I Met Your Mother. House. Arrested Development. In the rooms where these iconic shows were dreamed up; and now, in ours.
The Storylabbers are here to build worlds, develop their craft, and create stories that last.
Development Week done. The work continues.

Pre-Production Week just got a serious upgrade!
Dru Mungai joins us as mentor tomorrow and honestly…the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
Scripts are being locked. Schedules are being built. And now our teams get to sit with one of Kenya’s most compelling visual storytellers. Thinking through how their stories look, feel and move before a single frame is shot.
We’re excited.
See you in the room, Dru!
