By selling Slices of watermellons in the streets of Nakuru and moreso Kaptembwo town in Nakuru City,She raised her fees alone. It took her 7 years to finish her studies and graduate after selling the watermellons.
She got 1st Class Honours in Bachelor of Education,Arts and graduated last week after selling Slices of watermellons to raise her fees. She graduated 7 years later at MKU. It is a story about Brenda Cherutoi from Barwesa in Baringo North that you can't miss to read.
"I was born in Barwesa,Baringo North. Life became so hard at home and especially after finishing my form four studies. I decided to get out of home to hustle. I hustled in Marigat and later settled in Nakuru city to sell slices of watermelons.
Because I had passion to study and had the right qualifications to study education as per tsc,I decided to shop for a university that is pocket friendly, credible and accepts flexible fee payments. After the analysis,I settled with MKU .I decided to enrol with MKU Nakuru Campus in the year 2015 where my academic journey began.
Majority of my classmates have graduated and others fully employed by TSC. Because I was paying my fee alone,I decided to continue raising my fees alone as I pay my rent and bills at Kaptembwo in Nakuru town.
I graduated 2 weeks ago with Bachelor of Education from mount Kenya University and with 1st Class Honours. My parents and family are not aware since I graduated alone. I am still yet to travel home in Baringo to inform my family.
During my studies,I differed my studies on various occasions that I wasn't able to raise fees. I want to thank MKU for understanding me and being with me through my tough academic journey. As I was differing my studies,my marks for the exams done had been very safe. I want to thank MKU for ensuring that they have very stable MIS systems.
Upto this end. I want to thank God for this great achievement. I now want to quit selling Slices of watermelons and teach in class. Brenda can be reached on 0723 179274 in case of any job networking as she awaits TSC employment.
