One of our biggest problems today is laziness. Let me trace how it happens.
Your parents raise you.
Then they fundraise for university.
They pay fees, for the hostel, and for everything else.
They settle you in and buy your things.
Then you wait for pocket money.
The semester ends and you return home. You eat their food. You do nothing. Then they organize a graduation party for a second class lower.
Then you go back home again and continue waiting for them to make decisions for you.
And you wonder why nothing is moving in your life.
Now let me be fair, because parents share blame here. Many are still spoon-feeding grown adults. Choosing courses. Choosing schools. Some are even involved in their children's relationships.
Let them make mistakes. Let them fall and get up. That is how people learn that life is not a straight line.
But we must also speak to the adults.
You are 24 and have never taken an ID card. You are 19 and know nothing about voting. Your parents have to force you to go and register.
At some point that becomes your responsibility, not theirs.
So here is what I would tell you.
Leave the house. Get a single room. A mattress, a blanket, and a plan. Start from scratch.
Then go and study the world. Walk around Nairobi. See what people are actually doing on the streets. Visit businesses. Watch what is working online. Learn how money moves.
Because your parents will not always be here. And they will leave you in a world that shows no mercy.
The person forced to move will never move.
The person who decides for himself gets far ahead.
Take responsibility.
Start today.
