Are you curious about the origins of two popular Middle Eastern snacks? Let's take a closer look! Falafel, a delicious fried ball made from fava beans, is said to have originated in Egypt but some believe it may have roots in India. Known as ta'amiya in Egypt, this dish has been a staple for centuries among Jewish communities in Egypt and Syria.
Another savory treat that is believed to have emerged in the Middle East is the samosa. Historical accounts suggest that samosas can be traced back to the 10th century. The Iranian historian Abolfazl Beyhaqi first mentioned these delectable pockets in his work, Tarikh-e Beyhaghi, calling them 'Sambosa'. From there, the samosa has become a beloved snack throughout the world, with various regional twists and adaptations...!
