Freshness or Facade?”
Insiders, Consumers Question Liberian American Poultry’s Claims
By Staff Reporter
Monrovia, Liberia – Liberian American Poultry (LAP) continues to promote itself as a symbol of modern agriculture—offering “freshness you can trust” from a large, automated facility. But interviews with workers and consumers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, paint a more complicated picture—one marked by questions, inconsistencies, and growing skepticism.“We hear the claims—but we don’t see everything they describe”
A worker familiar with operations at the facility said the company’s public image does not fully reflect day-to-day realities.
“They talk about strict standards and automation, but not everything is as advanced as they make it sound. Some processes are still very manual, and sometimes the pressure is just to keep production moving,” the worker alleged.
Another individual with knowledge of the operations raised concerns about transparency:
“We are told to maintain cleanliness, yes—but there’s no clear communication about certifications or external inspections. Even workers don’t always know what standards are being followed.”
These claims could not be independently verified, and LAP has not publicly released detailed inspection or certification reports.
Consumers Raise Eyebrows
Several consumers in Monrovia said they have mixed feelings about LAP products.
One local egg seller noted:
“The eggs are available and people buy them, but customers still ask questions. Some want to know where exactly they come from and how fresh they really are.”
Another consumer was more direct:
“We hear ‘modern facility’ all the time, but we don’t see proof. In Liberia, people have learned not to trust big claims without evidence.”
While no widespread health complaints have been documented, the lack of independent verification continues to fuel doubt.
Operating in a Challenging Environment
Liberia’s poultry sector remains vulnerable to disease outbreaks and regulatory gaps, making strict adherence to safety standards critical.
A livestock sector observer, speaking anonymously due to the sensitivity of the issue, warned:
“Any large poultry operation must be extremely transparent. Without regular public reporting, it’s difficult to assess risk—not just for consumers, but for the entire industry.”
Transparency Under Pressure
LAP has also faced public scrutiny at the policy level, with lawmakers previously reviewing aspects of its investment agreement. While not directly tied to product quality, the scrutiny adds to broader concerns about accountability and openness.
Right of Reply:
However, LAP has not provide specific publicly verifiable certification records or detailed inspection reports at the time of publication, as this media look forward to it.
Confidence must be backed by clear, verifiable proof.
Until that happens, the debate continues:
Is Liberian American Poultry delivering on its promises—or asking the public to trust without seeing
