As B**g County All-Star Wins Inaugural “Who Owns the Region?” Kickball Tournament; Lovette Mesco Scoops Two Individual Awards

KAKATA, Liberia– B**g County All-Star emerged as champions of the inaugural Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) Region I Kickball Tournament, styled “Who Owns the Region?”, following an impressive performance over the weekend at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata, Margibi County.
The tournament brought together four teams—host Margibi County, B**g County, Buchanan, and Wee District—with the aim of promoting young kickball talents from the various LKF sub-associations and subcommittees.
One of the standout performers of the competition was Vigilance Kickball Club player Lovette Mesco, who represents B**g County. Mesco enjoyed a memorable tournament, winning two prestigious individual awards: Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Highest Home Runner, in recognition of her outstanding performances throughout the competition.
In addition to those honors, Mesco also claimed two Coach Joe B. Yango Queen of the Match awards, earning the recognition on both Matchday One and Matchday Two.
She finished tied with Margibi All-Star players Evelyn Mulbah and Princess Kamara, who also won two Queen of the Match awards each.
Mesco’s brilliance played a significant role in B**g County All-Star’s historic title-winning campaign, making them the first champions of the Region I tournament.
B**g County dominated the opening day of the tournament on Friday, July 24, collecting a maximum nine points to become the only team to achieve that feat on Matchday One.
Overall, the Orange Girls played six matches, recording four victories, one draw, and one defeat to finish with 13 points and secure the championship.
Their only loss came on Matchday Two, Saturday, July 25, when they suffered a 4-0 defeat to Buchanan All-Star. However, a scoreless draw against host Margibi All-Star in their final match was enough to seal the title. B**g had earlier defeated Margibi 3-1 in the tournament’s opening fixture.
Margibi County All-Star finished as runners-up with 11 points after winning four matches, drawing one, and losing one.
Other individual awards presented at the tournament included the Hon. Ellen Attoh-Wreh Best Pitcher Award, which was won by Princess Tarnue of Margibi All-Star and United Angels Kickball Club.
The Hon. Ellen Attoh-Wreh Best Coach Award went to Porkpah Flomo, head coach of T. Destiny Kickball Club and B**g County All-Star.
Tournament organizers named this year’s Queen of the Match prize after Coach Joe B. Yango of Fuamah Girls KC, while all other individual honors were presented under the Hon. Ellen Attoh-Wreh Individual Awards.
B**g County All-Star received a giant championship trophy and 25 gold medals for winning the tournament, while runners-up Margibi County All-Star also received a symbolic trophy and 25 gold medals. All participating teams were presented certificates of participation in recognition of their involvement.
During the tournament’s closing ceremony, organizers announced that Wee District, Electoral District #4 in Grand Bassa County, will host the second edition of the Liberia Kickball Federation Region I Tournament – “Who Owns the Region?”
The inaugural tournament was sponsored by Margibi County District #3 Representative Hon. Ellen A. Attoh-Wreh, with additional support from Margibi County Superintendent Hon. Ojay Godfavor Morris, the national leadership of the Liberia Kickball Federation, Coach Joe B. Yango of Fuamah Girls Kickball Club, EC Christian Weah, Kollie Barcolleh (CEO of MJK General Business Center), Charles the Blogger, ISSA Margibi County Chair Tomm Kerkulah, Rev. Blatey Williams, Amadu Bility, and several other partners.
