‘ECHOES’ From the Mountain Kingdom (or ‘ECHOES’ in short) is a platform that is created for Lesotho artists, in all their art forms, to come together and exhibit their work, gather exposure, network, experiment together, workshop together, express themselves, be developed and grow, sell and simply enjoy themselves. It is a platform for cultivating new ideas and initiating progressive relationships
both in and outside the country, a place where dreams can be inspired and where the inborn spirit of our true identity as the great Basotho nation can be reignited through our art and culture. This platform is driven by sound marketing, communication and business development techniques and it comes by way of open and publicized auditions; rehearsals; workshops; multi-media productions and presentations; marketing exposure; public events, shows and exhibitions held in Lesotho and outside the country.
‘ECHOES’ is freely open to all artists; young and old, big and small, seasoned and new, and it charges them nothing to access it for their exposure, growth and development. It rejects no one and seeks to inspire everyone to produce their very best. We desire to make ‘ECHOES’ a place of great opportune for all our artists, the art industry and related industries in Lesotho, for indeed, the time has come for us to shout out our own to the world out there! For the art lovers and the audiences alike, ‘ECHOES’ is a place and moment where they come together to access and experience Lesotho’s magnificent art array, a place where they come together to be amazed, to buy, to network, to relax and to have a good time the Lesotho way. The ‘ECHOES’ concept was first introduced to the local artists and public in 2005 as a pilot, where five live shows were hosted at different venues within the capital city Maseru. These included the Lesotho Sun Hotel and Casino, Victoria Hotel and the then Good-Times Café (now Times Café). The results of this pilot were amazing, to say the least, and the desire from all stakeholders to see the project take off following that has never ceased over the past years. Today, this long awaited break re-emerges as a grand vision and stronger purpose that seeks to emancipate our industry and position Lesotho favourably within our region and the world out there. Equally, as ‘ECHOES’, we take full responsibility of the role we can play as a powerful (art) medium in the greater social and economic transformation of our society. We are a medium that can be instrumental in regenerating our lost morals, ethics and patriotic spirit as the Basotho nation. This is the journey before us. Will you be part of the ‘ECHOES’ Movement?
