How to Stand Out from the Competition in Consulting and Coaching business.
A myth of “Competition” is a big BS, but still, many experts believe in this myth and for that reason, they often don’t take action and waste their chance to make an impact in the world and to have a successful business.
If you are struggling to get clients and you are afraid of competition, then this post may help you to dissolve this fear.
The key to avoiding competition is to be UNIQUE. And the best way of being unique is by being YOU Yourself.
Out of today’s 7 billion people on our planet, there is nobody like you. You are absolutely unique and unrepeatable.
There will always be those who don’t like you, who don’t like the way you sound, the way you move, the way you look etc.
And on the other hand, there will always be those who will like you, the way you sound, the way you move, the way you look etc. So let’s use this in your favor.
A business of consulting and coaching is a human to human, a character to character business. YOU to your client business.
And here comes to play the factor of trust.
We trust those who share something similar with us:
- On a global scale, we trust our fellow countryman,
- On a country scale, we trust people from the same town or village,
- On a community level, we trust to our family members.
On a character and personality level we choose to trust or not by answering these questions:
- Are they like me?
- Do they share the same values?
- Do they have similar personality type?
- Do they like the same sports?
- Do they have the same hobbies like me?
- Do they like the same music, movies or art?
- And so on and on…
Wait a minute, didn’t you just said that we have to be unique and now you are saying we have to look for similarities?!
Yes, and here is the catch: we tend to buy from those whom we trust.
So if you will be authentic in your blog posts and in your videos, then you will attract those who are similar to you and therefore:
- they will trust you,
- it will be much easier for you to serve them and to create great info products for them (because you understand their needs and desires),
- and as a result, it will be easier for you to sell your services.
So when you think about creating your courses and programs, make sure you add your unique flavor to it, your unique style.
You can take any personal development program or any valuable knowledge and present it in your unique way.
If there is some great idea out there, it is for you to change it, modify it, make it better and present it in your unique way.
In the words of designer Philippe Starck:
“I am just a copier, an impostor. I wait, I read magazines. After a while, my brain sends me a product.”
If I look back, I as well made all my furniture and interior designs by being inspired by other artists and mother nature. I did invent neither chair or table, I just added my flavor to it…
Did I copy anyone? Yes, sure, I copied the one who invented a chair thousands of years ago… But I added my unique flavor to it, I made my designs in cooperation with other designers which resulted in absolutely unique designs…
